Vice-Chancellor Prof. Avinash Khare meets the CM Shri P. S. Golay to discuss issues related to the University campus at Yangang.

The Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim University(SU), Shri Abinash Kharey, called on me in my official residence at Mintokgang.

We discussed the status of the University, wherein the Vice-Chancellor apprised me regarding the completion of 3 buildings and the shifting of non-lab-based departments in days to come. I informed him about visiting the campus in the coming days and assured him to follow up on other concerns.

Partha Pratim Ray, Assistant Professor from the Sikkim University (A Central University) has been named among top 2% scientists globally in the subject-wise as well as career wise analysis conducted by a team of scientists at Stanford University USA which was led by Dr. John PA Loannidis.

The analyses used citation data assessing scientists for career-long citation impact up until the end of 2019 and for citation impact during the single calendar year and since beginning of career. The list is created on the basis of standardized citation indicators such as information on citations (a quotation from or reference to a book, paper, or author, especially in a scholarly work.), h-index (a metric for evaluating the cumulative impact of an author’s scholarly output and performance; measures quantity with quality by comparing publications to citations.), co-authorship and a composite indicator. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields. Field and sub field specific percentiles are also provided for all scientists who have published at least 5 papers.

According to the single calendar year, Dr Partha Pratim Ray has secured 23393 rank in the world. His major field of research belongs to Networking & Telecommunications in which he ranked 169 globally. His national rank is 167 comprising of all subjects as mentioned earlier. He is the only scientist from the state Sikkim, India who is named both in the year wise calendar and career database.
