SGIHNS Successfully Concludes SRC Elections for the Academic Session 2025–26
The Sikkim Government Institute of Higher Nyingma Studies (SGIHNS), Sheda successfully conducted the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Elections for the academic session 2025–26, achieving an exceptional voter turnout of 90%.
Out of 40 registered voters from the Shastri and Acharya programmes, 36 students cast their votes, comprising 32 male voters and 2 female voters. Although the total student enrolment exceeds 130, students enrolled in Uttar Madhyama and Purva Madhyama are not entitled to vote as per the SRC Constitution.
The polling process was held under the supervision of Ma’am Bibhuti Pradhan, Additional Secretary, Technical Education, Education Department, Government of Sikkim, who attended as the official observer. The Chief Election Officer and Polling Officers were also present at the voting centre, ensuring the smooth, transparent, and fair conduct of the elections.
The counting of votes commenced at 11:20 AM and concluded at 12:15 PM, following which the results were formally declared.
Elected SRC Executive Committee 2025–26 are as follows:
1. Ongpulla Bhutia– President
2. Mingma T. Lepcha– Vice President
3. Jigmee N. Lepcha– General Secretary
4. Lakpa Tshering Lepcha– Treasurer
5. Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha– Cultural Secretary
6. Passang Sherpa– Sports Secretary
7. Lakpa Tsh. Tamang– Literary Secretary
The successful completion of the election on 21 November 2025 marks the formation of a new and dynamic Students’ Representative Council committed to serving the student community of SGIHNS.
