International Women's Day at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati was filled with conversations, creativity, and reflection.🌸

The event began with participants receiving their respective advertisements, setting the stage for the activity ahead. It was then kicked off with a short opening address by Akshra Jain, followed by a quick and fun rapid-fire round that got everyone engaged right from the start.

Sara Khan then presented a slide highlighting important aspects of the International Women's Day and the significance behind it, bringing thoughtful perspectives to the discussion. This was followed by an inspiring address by Debanjana Chakraborty, who shared her insights and words of encouragement with everyone present.

Towards the end, we showcased the advertisements that had been fixed and reimagined by the participants, reflecting on how narratives can be reshaped to be more inclusive and empowering.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati is pleased to announce that its students, team Silicon Forge, have emerged as Top 10 Finalists at the Grand Finale of DeepTech Hackathon 2026, held during IESA Vision Summit 2026.

The nationwide hackathon saw participation from 911 teams across 359 colleges, with 532 ideas evaluated through a rigorous multi-stage process. Advancing through qualification rounds, mentorship sessions, and technical evaluations conducted in collaboration with experts from GlobalFoundries and NXP Semiconductors, team Silicon Forge secured a place among the Top 10 finalists. The challenge focused on developing AI-enabled EDA workflows for an Edge AI-based Defect Classification System for Semiconductor Images, reinforcing India’s design-led semiconductor vision.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIITG) is pleased to announce the achievement of students, Team Climate Sentinels, at the recently concluded GUenARK 1.0, a Hackathon/Ideathon hosted by Gauhati University.

The team secured a position among the Top 6 finalists for their innovative project, WASP (Water Alert System Prototype). Developed under the category of Urban Resilience and Climate Action, the project addresses critical challenges in water management and disaster preparedness, showcasing the team's commitment to sustainable technological solutions.

Bio-note: Dr. Kuntal Dey is a Tech R&D Sr. Principal at Accenture Labs, Bangalore, India, and an Adjunct Faculty (Prof.) at Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Guwahati, India. Dr. Dey holds a PhD from IIT Delhi and an MTech from IIT Bombay. His core academic background is Natural Language Processing and Social Network Analysis; however, he has worked in other areas of Artificial Intelligence, as well as other areas in computer science and engineering, such as Systems, Mobile, Cognitive/Perception Computing, and Software Engineering. He has worked in VERITAS Software, Microsoft, and IBM Research India in the past. With 220+ granted US patents and close to 100 academic research publications, including several top-tier conferences and journals. His pioneering research incubation on QR-code scan-based payments, carried out back in 2011-13, had laid the foundation of the modern-day QR-coded QR-scan based payments.

Jeevandhara – IIITG Blood Donation Drive 2026 

IIIT Guwahati, through its Welfare Board, successfully organised Jeevandhara 2026 at the IIITG Town Hall on 8 February 2026, witnessing overwhelming participation from students, faculty, staff, and their families. With 100+ registrations and over 90 successful donors, the drive reflected the strong spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility within the IIITG community.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Subhasish Dhal, Associate Dean (Students’ Welfare), and conducted by Dr. Sanjoy Krishna Handique and the medical team from Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), ensuring safe and professional medical care.

Aligned with the vision of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, the initiative contributes to strengthening voluntary blood donation and supporting national public health efforts.

Our Story

Welcome to IIIT-Guwahati. We welcome the new batch of 2019 who are to join us in this August.

IIIT-Guwahati is an institute of national importance established in 2013 and currently operating from it’s permanent campus located on NH-37 which is 4 KMs away from Guwahati airport. The institute is driven by it’s own student community who drive the institute towards academic and extra-curricular excellence. We are welcome all interested to interact and find out more information about us through this page and also ask regarding any queries.

Admissions into undergraduate programmes in IIITs are through the Joint Entrance Examination Mains examination. Current intake is at 230 seats with 30 superannuary seats for females, 115 for CSE and 85 in ECE. Please follow our website for more details on faculty profiles, placement, and reesach.
