On December 4th, 2024, the Retailia Club of BIMTECH spiced up the Movie Night organized by the E-Cell with our very own Grub Hub food stall! From Cheesy Nachos to Strawberries dipped in Chocolate and Hot Chocolate, we served the perfect snacks to over 250 visitors. 🍫☕

But it wasn’t just about food—it was about creating a vibrant space for students, faculty, and staff to connect and enjoy a delightful evening. This initiative highlighted Retailia’s creativity, teamwork, and commitment to enhancing experiences.

The Retail Management Program at Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) was honored to participate in the Manning Modern Retail (MMR) 2024 event on September 19th, held at The Westin Mumbai Garden City. Organized by the Retailers Association of India (RAI), BIMTECH's academic partner, this year’s theme was “Evolve, Elevate, and Engage.”

The event featured engaging panel discussions on critical topics in the retail industry, including:

Evolve: Talent Pipelines - Nurturing Tomorrow’s Retail Leaders with industry experts like Asim Jagdale (Arvind Fashions), Chitra D Ram (Yum! Restaurants International), G.R Venkatesh (Reliance Retail), Harsh Aparanji (Landmark Group), and Nandini Mehta (Metro Brands Limited).

Cloud-based Compliance Management Systems and their Importance to the Retail Industry with speakers such as Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Chauhan (Pepe Jeans India), Farzeen Khan (Being Human Clothing), Mandavi Singh (DIT), and Prashant Bhokil (Finquest).

✨ On 14th September 2024, the Department of Retail Management at BIMTECH had the honor of hosting Mr. Vishal Mahajan, CEO of Jubilant Consumer Pvt. Ltd., for an insightful talk on "Leveraging B2B Partnerships to Enhance Retail Customer Experience: Bridging the Gap Between Wholesale and End-Consumer."

Mr. Mahajan, an MBA graduate from IIM Ahmedabad, shared his vast expertise in general management, corporate sales, finance, and retail operations. His discussion on prominent brands like Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd. (operating Domino's Pizza, Dunkin’, Popeyes, and Hong’s Kitchen in India), Jubilant MotorWorks Pvt. Ltd., and Jubilant Agri & Consumer Products Ltd. showcased how these companies are continuously enhancing the retail experience. He also delved into the evolving landscape of B2B and B2C businesses and the changing tastes of consumers, especially in the food sector, offering essential takeaways for the future of retail.

We, the students of Retail Management at Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), had the privilege of attending an insightful guest lecture on “Emerging Marketing Strategies to Attract and Retain Customers in the Banking Sector” by Mr. Shantanu Samaddar, City Business Head, ICICI Bank.

During the session, Mr. Samaddar emphasized the importance of customer retention in the banking industry. He discussed how personalized marketing strategies are crucial to meet evolving customer needs, and highlighted the growing role of digital tools in enhancing customer engagement and loyalty. He also stressed the significance of building trust and fostering strong relationships with customers.

We had an incredible learning experience with Mr. Ajay Seth, Divisional Director - Customer Services at Panasonic, who delivered two insightful guest lectures on "Measuring and Managing Brand Equity at Panasonic" and "Pricing and Other Marketing Mix Elements for Building Brand Equity" on September 8th, 2024.

Throughout the sessions, we dove into essential marketing topics like the 8 levels of demand, the strategic management process, setting the final price, and the product life cycle. Mr. Seth guided us through the intricacies of building brand equity, the importance of a brand, and the brand resonance pyramid. He also shed light on channel pricing strategies, giving us real-world insights from his extensive experience at Panasonic.

What made the lectures even more engaging were the interactive quizzes that tested our knowledge and kept the energy high. It was an enriching and practical learning experience, and we’re excited to apply these concepts in our future careers!

We just completed an intensive 18-hour session at BIMTECH led by Dr. Anita Yadav, where we dove deep into the power of Python in retail analytics. This enriching experience equipped us with key technical skills and opened our eyes to the future potential of Gen-AI and its transformative role in the business landscape.
