World Soil Day 2025 – Awareness Programme at Badsa Village, Gurugram
Date: 01 December 2025
Theme: Healthy Soil for Healthy Cities
An awareness programme was successfully organized on 01 December 2025 at Badsa Village, Gurugram to commemorate World Soil Day 2025. A total of 87 farmers participated with great enthusiasm, reflecting their strong interest in sustainable and scientifically informed agricultural practices.
The programme consisted of interactive and practical sessions aimed at enhancing the farmers’ understanding of soil health and resource management. The key technical sessions included:
• Soil Health Management and Combating Soil Degradation – Dr. Shakti Om Pathak
• Organic Composting and Vermicomposting Techniques – Dr. Manjeet Panwar
• Efficient Water Conservation Practices – Dr. Pooja Upadhyay
• Demonstration on Soil Sampling Techniques – Dr. Rajesh Mor
Hands-on demonstrations, especially on soil sampling, received excellent participation and generated meaningful discussions among the farmers.
Overall, the initiative significantly contributed to raising awareness about sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices. The active involvement and commitment of the farming community towards protecting and improving soil health was truly encouraging.

🌱✨ A day of learning at IARI, New Delhi!
Our B.Sc. (Agri.) 3rd-year students, accompanied by Dr. Shakti Om Pathak, Dr. Nitesh & Dr. Pooja Upadhay, explored the Seed Science Division, Biocontrol Lab & Soil Science Division—gaining first-hand exposure to cutting-edge research, sustainable practices, and innovations shaping Indian agriculture.

Special thanks to Dr. Prashant Vikram, Dr. Anju, Dr. Debasis, Dr. M.C. Meena & Dr. Sarvendra for their inspiring sessions 🙏.

Such visits don’t just expand knowledge—they ignite curiosity, build research-oriented thinking, and nurture the next generation of agri-innovators 🌾💡.

A New Dawn for Indian Agriculture: Deeksharambh 2025 at SGT University - FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES

A powerful beginning to the academic journey of our new students!

We are thrilled to share the success of the Deeksharambh 2025 Induction Program hosted by the SGT University - FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES (ICAR Accredited). It was a day of inspiration, wisdom, and a shared vision for the future.

Our first-year UG and PG students were warmly welcomed into the SGT family and treated to an exceptional Expert Talk on a theme crucial to our nation's prosperity: "Sustainable Agri-lnput Ecosystem: Shaping the Future of Indian Agriculture."

Agri Job Fair 2025: Cultivating Careers, Harvesting Innovation

We are thrilled to share the remarkable success of the Agri Job Fair 2025, organized by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, SGT University, Gurugram.

This two-day event brought together 100+ students and 15+ leading agri-sector organizations from across India, creating a robust platform for dialogue, recruitment, and innovation in agriculture.

Key Highlights:
-Direct engagement with top recruiters including Mahindra Agri Solutions, PAN Seeds, Bajaj Motors, Star Agriseeds, Vigen Seeds, IFFCO-AquAgri, Criyagen, PepsiCo, and Crystal Crop Science.

Dr. Prashant Vikram, Director of SGT University's Faculty of Agriculture Sciences, presented insights on gene editing for crop enhancement at a SERB-sponsored workshop.

Held at the Central University of Haryana, the event focused on harnessing genome editing tools to unlock plant genetic potential.

Dr. Vikram highlighted applications including trait discovery and crop domestication, stressing the technology's role in revolutionizing crop improvement. Advocating for equivalence between gene-edited and conventionally bred varieties, he emphasized the need to embrace this transgene-free tool for breeding.

In collaboration with the Department of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare, Haryana, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences is organizing 𝐊𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐨𝐧 𝟓𝐓𝐇 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 to bring together farmers, agricultural experts, and stakeholders which is resounding success, fostering agricultural prosperity and knowledge exchange platform.

The Mela features informative lectures on modern farming techniques, sustainable practices, and agri-tech innovations, Rabi season vegetables cultivation and pest management of cool season field and horticulture crops providing attendees with valuable insights to enhance productivity.

Exhibitions showcase cutting-edge farming equipment, organic solutions, and government schemes for farmers. The event also serves as a display place for farmers to network, share experiences, and discuss challenges. Notably, experts also address issues related to climate change and market trends. The Kisan Mela drive is to create a collaborative environment, empowering farmers with knowledge and tools to navigate the evolving agricultural landscape, ultimately contributing to the growth of the agricultural sector in the region.

With a focus on sustainable agriculture and food security a seminar on Opportunities for Collaboration in Agricultural Research was organized by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, SGT University from 21-09-23 to 23-09-23.

The resource person for the event was Dr. Surya Kant, Research Leader- Plant Phenomics, Agriculture Victoria Research Australia. The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including researchers, academics industry experts, and policymakers, to explore the potential synergies between agricultural research and digital technologies. The seminar aimed to foster collaboration, share insights, and identify innovative approaches to addressing the challenges facing modern agriculture.
