My three years at Assam Don Bosco University were nothing short of transformative. I entered as a reserved introvert, but the nurturing environment and the unwavering support of my professors gave me the confidence to step out of my shell. The Economics department, in particular, was a cornerstone of my growth, not only helping me excel academically but also encouraging me to find my voice in various events. I am beyond grateful for the amazing faculty, my dearest classmates, all the wonderful memories and the foundation this university built for me; it truly shaped the person I am today.

On 12th & 13th May, 2026, the BA 2nd Semester students gave a presentation on Service Learning Activities, highlighting the importance of community service and social responsibility. Students shared their experiences from activities such as cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, and educational support programs.
The presentation was informative and inspiring, showcasing teamwork, leadership, and practical learning beyond the classroom. Faculty members appreciated the students’ active participation and dedication toward community welfare.

📢 The Department of Economics ,Assam Don Bosco University successfully conducted its Parent–Teacher Meeting on 10th April 2026, bringing together 90 participants, including students, parents, and faculty members, in an engaging online session. The meeting was hosted by Dr. Pranti Dutta, with a welcome address by Dr. Abdur Rashid Ahmed,Head of the Department, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Seilienthang Baite. Key discussions focused on attendance, academic performance, and discipline, followed by an interactive session where parents shared valuable feedback and suggestions. The meeting ended with a clear action plan, reinforcing the department’s commitment to collaboration, transparency, and holistic student development.

Lamingthang, a Research Scholar from the Department of Economics at Assam Don Bosco University, recently presented his department synopsis on the topic “Agro-Based Industries and Employment Generation: A Comparative Study on East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills District of Meghalaya.” The presentation was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Ananya Kadhyap, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics. The study highlights the critical role of agro-based industries in fostering employment and supporting regional economic development, offering valuable insights into the comparative dynamics of the two districts.

The Department of Economics, Assam Don Bosco University, witnessed an engaging academic session as research scholar Partha Jyoti Baishya presented his progress report on 31st March 2026. His study, titled “An Investigation of Sericulture Market as an Employment Booster in Select Urban Areas in Kamrup District, Assam,” highlights the growing relevance of sericulture in urban employment generation. Conducted under the supervision of Dr. Abdur Rashid Ahmed, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Economics, the presentation reflected thoughtful research progress and meaningful insights into local economic development.
