The students of the Royal School of Communication and Media (RSCOM), The Assam Royal Global University, celebrated Teachers’ Day with warmth and gratitude, honouring the mentors who inspire and guide them every day. The celebration began with heartfelt appreciation for the teachers, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony and inspiring words from Dean, RSCOM, Prof. (Dr.) P. J. Baruah, and Dr. Florence Handique Rabha, Head Electronics and Anchoring.

As a token of appreciation, the students presented their teachers with handmade flowers and beautiful plants. The programme featured a variety of performances, including a Japanese song, duet and group dances, a melodious group song, and an energetic rap performance.

The celebration continued with an interactive movie-guessing game, where teachers had five seconds to identify scenes, creating moments of laughter and fun. Two heartfelt videos dedicated to the teachers added an emotional touch, and the celebration concluded with gratitude, joy, and memories to cherish.

**Frames and Forms 2.0: A Platform for Visual Storytellers**

The second edition of Frames and Forms was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) P. J. Baruah, Dean, RSCOM, who addressed the gathering with words of encouragement for the students present.

The event was further enriched by an inspiring speech from Prof. Mayukh Hazarika, whose words encouraged students to explore their creativity and individual perspectives. The programme was hosted by Afrida Julfi, with photographs contributed by Ratul Sarkar, Ayush Sahani, Kabya Kuntal Saikia, Vishist Basnet, Jugarka Kaushik, Mehak Kayum, Kallol Kashyap Kalita, and Ranuka Gurung.

Frames and Forms remains a meaningful initiative, giving students a platform to express their thoughts, emotions, and unique viewpoints through photography — celebrating visual storytelling as a powerful medium of creative expression.

The event was coordinated by Student Coordinator Mehak Kayum, along with team members Jugarka Kaushik, Evelin Hussain, Jugasmita Das, Barsha Kalita, and Ujjayan Dutta.

The second edition of Frame and Form was inaugurated today by Dean, RSCOM, Prof.(Dr.) P. J. Baruah. The programme began with the inauguration, followed by an address by the Dean, who shared his thoughts and words of encouragement with those present.

RGU Media Team Welcomes Freshers with Inspiration and Celebration

Assam Royal Global University hosted a vibrant fresher’s event organised by the RGU Media Team on September 2, 2026, to welcome new students and introduce them to campus media. The event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) P. J. Baruah, Dean and Distinguished Professor of RSCOM; Dileep Chandan, Professor of RSL & RSCOM; Dr. Rani Pathak Das, PRO of RGU; and Dr. (H) Jitumoni Das, Faculty Coordinator of the RGU Media Team. Their inspiring words encouraged students to develop confidence, creativity and communication skills. The core members then introduced themselves, showcasing their roles in photography, videography, reel-making and content creation, and explained how each team contributes to capturing and presenting university events. Fun dance performances added energy to the evening, making the celebration memorable for the freshers.

The Royal School of Communication & Media (RSCOM), Assam Royal Global University organised a Photography Competition in celebration of World Photography Day, receiving an enthusiastic response from 44 participants. The competition provided a platform for participants to showcase their creativity, unique perspectives, and storytelling through photography.

The entries were evaluated by distinguished judges Mr. Mayukh Hazarika and Dr. Kuntala Roy Choudhury, who assessed the photographs for their creative expression and visual storytelling.

The competition concluded with the announcement of the winners:

🥈 2nd Position – Sarwar Hassan
🥉 3rd Position – Jugarka Kaushik

Education, Democracy & Media: A Dialogue on Freedom and Knowledge🖋🎥📚

The Royal School of Communication & Media (RSCOM), Assam Royal Global University, hosted an invited talk on “Education, Democracy, and Media” on 19 August 2026 at MP Hall, A Block.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) P. J. Baruah, Dean, RSCOM, who highlighted the significance of the lecture in understanding the vital relationship between education, democracy and media.

The resource person, Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice Chancellor, Assam Royal Global University, spoke about the importance of the topic and examined the state of media freedom in India.

Referring to Reporters Without Borders’ World Press Freedom Index, he discussed India’s ranking of 157 and raised questions about the extent of journalistic freedom within the country’s political, economic and constitutional framework.

Reflecting on democracy, he invoked Abraham Lincoln’s famous definition of government “of the people, by the people, for the people.” He further emphasised the role of education in developing knowledge and effective communication, drawing upon the ideas of thinkers such as Socrates, Kant, Rabindranath Tagore, Paulo Freire, Mahatma Gandhi and Amartya Sen.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Esha Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, RSCOM, marking the end of an engaging and thought-provoking discussion on the foundations of an informed and democratic society.

The Royal School of Communication and Media (RSCOM), Assam Royal Global University, inaugurated its wall magazine “Frame & Form”, celebrating creativity, expression and the diverse voices of its students.

The event was graced by Shri Ankur Pansari, Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Alak Kumar Buragohain, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Amarjyoti Singh Choudhury, Chair of the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Centre of Creativity.

The event also witnessed the presence of P. J. Baruah, Dean, RSCOM, along with Dr. Florence H. Rabha , Head of Electronics and Anchoring, and other faculty members of the department.

The dignitaries appreciated the initiative and the efforts of the students, highlighting how Frame & Form provides a space for creativity to come alive while encouraging students to make their contributions truly live up to its name.
