On 14th November 2025, the Microbiologists Society India – HIT Student Chapter, in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology, Haldia Institute of Technology, commenced one day workshop on Graphicus-O-Pedia 2.0. The workshop was a vibrant blend of creativity, learning, and celebration, achieving its goal of enhancing student skills in digital design.
Inaugural Session of the program was honored by the presence of key members:
Prof. Dr. Radha Rani Das (Dean of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Technology, HIT Haldia)
Prof. Dr. Rajib Dubey (Dean of Student Welfare, HIT Haldia)
Dr. Shamba Chatterjee (Head of the Department of Biotechnology)
The event began with the felicitation of the esteemed guests, followed by their inspiring and motivating speeches, which effectively set a positive and energetic tone for the day's proceedings.
Following the inaugural session, third-year student volunteers led an engaging and informative teaching session. The first half focused on introducing participants to the essentials of graphic design, covering:
* Basics of Canva
* Principles of Colour Theory and its impact on visual appeal
* Essentials of Typography, emphasizing font pairing and readability
* Use of Frames and Layout Structures for balanced compositions
Participants gained valuable hands-on experience by applying these concepts to design Instagram posts, enhancing their skills in visual communication and digital creativity.
A delightful moment occurred during the morning with a brief, heartwarming Children’s Day celebration organized by the Department of Biotechnology, which included the distribution of pens and chocolates to the students.
In the second half of the day, a competition was held, challenging participants to create an Instagram post for MBSI. This activity allowed students to immediately put their newly acquired skills into practice and confidently showcase their creative work.
The day culminated in the long-awaited prize distribution ceremony, where the faculty teachers awarded certificates to the competition winners:

3rd Place: Ranak Halder
Graphicus-O-Pedia 2.0 concluded successfully with a vote of thanks delivered by the professors, celebrating the enthusiastic participation and the enriching learning atmosphere.
