An Act of Humanity from Strangers to Saviours and a School Connection
In a time when stories of indifference often dominate our days, an act of quiet courage and compassion has restored our faith on humanity and that it still shines bright.
A little child, on his way from his home in Gobindopally to meet a friend whose house is located nearby, lost his way and unknowingly reached Dimrupar, far from home, frightened and confused. It was then that some people noticed something was wrong when the kid approached them for water. Instead of ignoring the situation, they chose to care.
They gently spoke to the child, asked about his father’s name, his whereabouts and his school's name, and tried to understand where he belonged. Though the child, overwhelmed by fear, initially ran away from them, those men did not give up. They followed him, reassured him, and continued their efforts to help.
In a remarkable coincidence, one of them turned out to be a former student of Sankardev Senior Secondary School, Hojai, the very school where the child studies. Acting with presence of mind and responsibility, he immediately contacted the school authorities. Through this timely action, the child was safely traced and reunited with his anxious parents.
They did not know the child. They had no obligation. Yet they chose empathy over indifference, responsibility over convenience. They brought him back from far away, ensured his safety, and returned him to his parents.
Our heartfelt gratitude and deep respect go out to these peoples. Their actions stand as a powerful reminder that even in this age of uncertainty, there is still hope, kindness, and humanity among us.
