Popularly known as Rajabazar Science College,this is one the campuses of University of Calcutta, the oldest University in Asia and having more than 200 colleges under this University. Science College is one of the main campus of this University. The University of Calcutta has so far produced 4 Nobelists, more than any other Indian university: Ronald Ross, Rabindra Nath Tagore, C. Raman and Amartya Sen.

Dr. Santimay Basu and Dr. (Mrs.) Sunanda Basu has kindly endowed a sum of US$30000 to the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics for various developmental work. The endowment along with their pious suggestions (given below) was gratefully accepted by the Syndicate of the University of Calcutta (vide Item # 29 dated September 9, 2010).

Developing the infrastructure of an Auditorium at the Ionosphere Field Station, Haringhata

Dr. Santimay Basu was felicitated by the Radio Physics and Electronics Association as an illustrious Alumni and the auditorium was formally inaugurated by Prof. Mamata Roy, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs and Finance, University of Calcutta on February 10, 2011. Dr. Sunanda Basu delivered the J.N. Bhar Birth Centenary Lecture on that day.
