SIDBI Collaborates with a-IDEA, ICAR-NAARM for Seed Equity Support to Agri-Startups in Off-Farm Sector

The Association for Innovation Development of Entrepreneurship in Agriculture (a-IDEA), the business incubator of ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (ICAR-NAARM), Hyderabad has entered into a Collaboration Agreement with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to strengthen seed equity support for agri-startups. As part of this initiative, the “SIDBI Seed Fund Program at a-IDEA” has been launched to support startups incubated at a-IDEA.
The agreement was formally signed on March 19, 2026, by Dr. Gopal Lal, President, a-IDEA & Director, ICAR-NAARM and Shri Arijit Dutt, General Manager, SIDBI, in the presence of Dr. Ranjit Kumar, CEO, a-IDEA & Principal Scientist, ICAR-NAARM, along with other SIDBI officials.
This collaboration aims to strengthen cooperation in providing financial support, mentoring, and enterprise development services to agripreneurs and startups. The program will offer seed funding assistance to help startups effectively scale their operations and accelerate growth.
a-IDEA at ICAR-NAARM will place special emphasis on supporting startups in off-farm sectors such as Post-Harvest Technology, Innovative Food Technology, Supply and Value Chain Technology, Agri-FinTech, Value Addition in Fisheries & Aquaculture, Animal Husbandry, and Farm Mechanization. This partnership marks a significant milestone in fostering entrepreneurship and driving the growth of agri-based startups through structured financial and institutional support.

ICAR-NAARM Witnesses Release of 22nd Installment of PM-KISAN Scheme

ICAR-NAARM staff members along with farmers (100) of Telangana witnessed the release of 22nd installment of PM-Kisan by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modiji on March 13, 2026 at 5:00 PM through web-cast of the event.

Hon’ble Prime Minister, during the release function emphasized the need for supporting the farmers towards achieving Viksit Bharat 2047.

Previously, Dr. Gopal Lal, Director, ICAR-NAARM interacted with the farmers and suggested them to utilize the benefits of digital agriculture and adopt natural farming practices to attain sustainability in agriculture. He also distributed medicinal plants to the farmers participated in the event.

The farmers from Ranga Reddy district of Telangana were also benefitted by special sessions on digital agriculture (delivered by Dr. Balakrishna, PS) and organic farming (Dr. Laxman Ahire, CTO) arranged before the webcast event.

The entire programme were coordinated by Dr. R. Venkattakumar, PS and Head, Extension Systems Management (XSM) Division with the support of Dr. Laxman Ahire, CTO and Mr. Dhanam Murahari Senior Technician of the Academy.

ICAR-NAARM witnessed the Post Budget Webinar organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare & Rural Development on 6.3.2.26 at Conference Hall of the Academy.

Shri. Narendra Modjii, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India gave the inaugural speech. He highlighted the importance of promotion of entrepreneurship based on potential agricultural and rural livelihood options which are being given thrust in Union Budget such as animal husbandry; fisheries; coconut; cashew and cocoa; sandalwood and agarwood; walnuts, almonds and pine nuts; establishment of self-help entrepreneurship (SHE) marts and Bharat Vistar (AI-powered advisory for farmers). He also emphasized about significance of coordinated efforts with respect to processing and value addition of farm produces and their export.

Shri. Shivraj Singh Chouhanji, Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare & Rural Development in his concluding remarks at the valedictory session emphasized the need not only for enhancing the production and productivity of commodities of agricultural and allied sectors but also to enhance the processing and value addition opportunities and thereby improve the export scenario.

Dr. Gopal Lal, Director, ICAR-NAARM and all the ICAR-NAARM faculty witnessed the webinar and appreciated the provisions given in the Union Budget for promotion of agricultural scenario in the country.
