A vibrant delegation of students from Manipur has left to participate in the 4th National Environment Youth Parliament (NEYP) 2026, which will be held on 14th and 15th February 2026 at the prestigious Nagpur Vidhan Sabha, the Summer Session venue of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The national-level event is being organized by Students for Development (SFD), India, with the objective of building young environmental leadership and fostering policy dialogue on sustainable development.
The Manipur delegation includes Naorem Chelsia from Manipur University; Gagarin Thoudam and Maibam Valentina Chanu from Dhanamanjuri University; Rolia Thongam from Manipur University of Culture; and Neetu Thounaojam from Manipur Technical University. The students will represent the state in deliberations on key environmental issues, climate challenges, and sustainable policy frameworks, reflecting the voice and concerns of the North East region.
During the two-day event, the participants will engage in parliamentary-style debates, discussions, and policy advocacy sessions. They will also have the opportunity to interact with the Hon’ble Speaker and several distinguished leaders associated with the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, gaining valuable exposure to parliamentary procedures and national-level environmental governance.
The Manipur team will be led and guided by Kosygin Leishangthem, Environment Nodal Officer (ENO), Assistant Professor of Manipur Technical University, who will mentor the delegation throughout the programme. The participation has been coordinated by SFD Manipur under the leadership of Borrish Kumar Potshangbam, State Convenor, SFD Manipur, along with Albert
Athokpam, State Co-Convenor, SFD Manipur.
The participation of this multi-university delegation highlights the growing commitment of Manipur’s youth toward environmental stewardship, sustainability, and responsible leadership. The academic and environmental community of the state extends its best wishes to the team for a meaningful and impactful engagement at NEYP 2026 in Nagpur.
