A One-Day Seminar on Nutrition and Mental Health Held at University College, Jandiala, Jalandhar



A one-day seminar on “Nutrition and Mental Health” was successfully conducted at Guru Gobind Singh University College, Jandiala (Jalandhar), aimed at raising awareness about the link between dietary habits and psychological well-being.

The program was organized under the guidance of the college in-charge, Mr. Jashanjot Singh Johal, and coordinated by Co-convenor Ms. Dipika Dhawan. The session featured resource persons Ms. Nupur Chopra, Retired Associate Professor at B.D. Arya College, Jalandhar Cantt, and Ms. Aatma Singh, Head of the Department of Home Science at Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women, Jalandhar. They highlighted the role of a balanced diet in managing stress and explained how nutrition influences brain function and overall mental health. They also discussed how our eating habits affect the neurotransmitters in the human brain and emphasized how microplastics can disrupt hormonal balance.

The seminar saw active student participation, reflecting the institution’s commitment to meaningful learning initiatives.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Jashanjot Singh Johal, who encouraged students to adopt healthy eating habits for better well-being. The stage proceedings were conducted by Ms. Anjali Yadav, and all faculty members were present at the event.

Guru Gobind Singh University College, Jandiala Celebrates International Women’s Day



Guru Gobind Singh University College, Jandiala celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm and warmth. The occasion was dedicated to recognizing the invaluable role women play in shaping our families, society, and the nation.

The Keynote Speaker for the event was Dr. Sumneet Kaur Pahwa, Associate Professor in English at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. She was accompanied by the Guest Speaker, Miss Sunavya Kaur Pahwa, a 17-year-old budding storyteller who has already written several books at such a young age.

The program began with a heartfelt welcome by the College Incharge, Mr. Jashanjot Singh Johal, who honored both the speakers by presenting them with bouquets and a traditional phulkari as a token of respect. In his address, he highlighted the importance of women in our lives and emphasized that society progresses only when women are respected, empowered, and given equal opportunities.

To mark the occasion, several activities were organized for students, including poster-making, slogan-writing, and poetry-recitation competitions. Students participated with great enthusiasm and creativity, beautifully expressing their thoughts on the strength, sacrifices, and achievements of women.

The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Sumneet Kaur Pahwa, delivered an inspiring talk on women’s empowerment and the growing role of women in modern society. Her words encouraged students to recognize their potential and work towards a more equal and respectful world.

The Guest Speaker, Miss Sunavya Kaur , also interacted with the students. Despite being just 17, she has already made a name for herself as a young storyteller and author. She inspired the students by sharing her journey and encouraging them to use their time productively. She reminded them that while many young people spend hours scrolling through social media, meaningful achievements come from creativity, dedication, and hard work.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the College Incharge, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, staff members, and students for making the celebration meaningful and memorable. All the staff members of the college were present on this occasion, adding to the spirit of the celebration.
