IIT Jammu proudly congratulates Dr. Gaurav A. Bhaduri, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, on being nominated by the Government of India as a Lead Author for the forthcoming IPCC 2027 Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies and Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CDRT-CCUS) under the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

This prestigious recognition places him among only six experts selected from India to contribute to this globally significant report, marking a major milestone in advancing climate science, carbon management, and sustainable innovation.

The First Lead Author Meeting, held in Rome from 14–16 April 2026, formally initiated this landmark assessment, which represents the first major update to the IPCC methodology framework in this domain since 2006.

IIT Jammu continues to strengthen its commitment towards health, hygiene, and student well-being through excellence in campus dining and food safety practices.

The Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) distribution ceremony held on 22 April 2026 recognized 70 mess staff members for successfully completing the training programme, reinforcing the institute’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and service excellence.

Adding to this proud milestone, IIT Jammu has been awarded the prestigious 5-Star Eat Right Campus Certification under the Government of India initiative by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for all five campus messes, valid from March 2026 to March 2028.

This recognition reflects the collective efforts of the institute, mess management teams, and staff in creating a safe, healthy, hygienic, and sustainable food environment for the campus community.

Samvaad 2026 successfully conducted at IIT Jammu ✨

TARANG: Women’s Sports Fest 2026 Concludes Successfully!

IIT Jammu enthusiastically celebrated the spirit of womanhood, fitness, and togetherness through the successful organization of the first-ever “Tarang: Women’s Sports Fest 2026”, organized as part of the International Mother’s Day celebrations.

The event witnessed vibrant participation, joyful sporting activities, and an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm, energy, and community spirit. Through fun-filled recreational and team events, the celebration beautifully promoted fitness, sportsmanship, active participation, and women empowerment.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, with the constant support and encouragement of Dr. Anup Shukla (Dean SA).

IIT Jammu welcomed 92 students of Classes XI and XII from A***n Public School for an immersive educational visit aimed at fostering scientific curiosity and experiential learning.

Organized by the Outreach Department under the guidance of Director Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Dean Outreach Prof. Meenakshi Rajeev, and Associate Dean Outreach Dr. Sameer K. S. P., the visit provided students with first-hand exposure to advanced laboratories, technical facilities, and real-world scientific applications.

During the visit, students explored the Chemistry Laboratory where Dr. Bhupinder Singh demonstrated nylon polymer synthesis and experiments on evaporation and condensation. They also visited the Physics Laboratory to understand practical applications of physics and toured the Central Workshop to witness raw material processing, spare part fabrication, and additive & subtractive manufacturing techniques.

Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on sessions conducted by technical staff, students experienced how classroom concepts transform into real-world innovation — inspiring them to pursue future opportunities in science, engineering, and technology.

The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre (I2EDC), IIT Jammu, conducted a one-day SEED Programme (Student Enrichment through Engineering and Design) for 30 students from Army Public School, BD Bari, Jammu, accompanied by their teachers, Mr. Ishan Raina and Mrs. Meetu Saini.

The programme aimed to provide early exposure to engineering concepts through experiential learning, fostering innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Hands-on Learning Highlight:

Students explored RC car engineering, gaining insights into components such as Arduino Uno, motor drivers, battery systems, Bluetooth modules, chassis, wheels, and electronics.

The session was led by Dr. Navneet Kumar (Professor-in-Charge, I2EDC), who ensured an engaging, interactive, and student-friendly learning experience focused on learning by doing.

Students actively participated in disassembling and reassembling an RC car, enhancing their understanding of mechanical-electronic integration, teamwork, and analytical thinking.

The programme was supported by Mr. Mohammad Israil, Mr. Namrit Bhardwaj, Mr. Sahil Sharma, and Mrs. Priyanka Manhas, who mentored students throughout the session.

The event concluded with a certificate & badge distribution ceremony, where 5 students were awarded Level 02 (Young Tinkerer) badges for exceptional performance.

This initiative reflects IIT Jammu’s continued commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting a culture of innovation, scientific temper, and design thinking among school students.

The GDC I-NITIATE Entrepreneurship Workshop, organized by the Gopalakrishnan-Deshpande Centre, IIT Madras in collaboration with IIT Jammu, successfully concluded with a three-day in-person workshop on campus.

This two-week hybrid program brought together 11 teams from diverse institutions, including IIT Jammu, IIM Jammu, University of Jammu, Central University of Jammu, Government Degree College Drass, and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir, fostering entrepreneurial thinking, business acumen, and startup readiness.

The concluding session featured insightful team presentations and addresses by distinguished dignitaries including Dr. Raghuttama Rao (CEO, GDC IIT Madras), Vikramjit Singh (Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce, J&K), Harvinder Singh (Director, Mission Yuva), and Prof. Manoj Gaur (Director, IIT Jammu).

The program marks a significant step toward strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region, empowering young minds to transform ideas into impactful ventures.
