On the occasion of **National Periodontist Day 2026**, the **Department of Periodontology, Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar**, organized a **Folk Dance Competition** in the **GDCHJ foyer area**.

A total of **21 participants**, along with **PGs and staff members from various departments**, enthusiastically took part in the competition and showcased their **energy, cultural spirit, and artistic talent** through vibrant folk dance performances representing different traditional styles. The event created a lively atmosphere and added great enthusiasm to the celebrations.

On the occasion of National Periodontist Day 2026 celebrations at the Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar, the fifth day featured an *Oral Health Checkup Camp* conducted at Shree Anandabava Vedant sanskrit mahavishvavidhyalaya at Dhorivav with the aim of promoting dental awareness among students on 27/2/26
A total of *165* students(Hrishikumar) were screened during the camp. This was followed by the distribution of educational pamphlets along with toothpaste and snacks to encourage good oral hygiene practices. The camp served as an important initiative in creating awareness about oral health .

On the occasion of National Periodontist Day 2026 celebrations at the Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar, the fourth day featured an *Oral Health Checkup Camp* conducted at **Andabava specially abled students and old age home females ** on 26/2/26
A total of 30 Specialchildren and 20 elderly citizens were screened during the camp.

This was followed by the distribution of educational pamphlets along with toothpaste to encourage good oral hygiene practices. The camp served as an important initiative in creating awareness about oral health and preventive dental care among school students.

On the occasion of National Periodontist Day 2026, the Department of Periodontology, Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar, organized a ***Face Makeup Competition ***on 25/2/26 of the celebrations in the GDCHJ foyer area.
More than 50 participants along with PGs and staffs from various Departments enthusiastically took part in the competition and showcased their creativity and artistic excellence by presenting impressive face makeup looks inspired by various movie and television serial characters.

On the occasion of National Periodontist Day 2026, the Department of Periodontology, Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar, organized an**Oral Health Check-up Camp on 24/2/26* at Annapurna Temple (Mundiya Swamiji Ashram, near Victoria Bridge), run by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, with the aim of promoting dental awareness among students.
A total of 30 students were screened during the camp. Educational pamphlets and toothpaste were distributed to encourage good oral hygiene practices.
The camp helped create awareness about oral health and preventive dental care among school students.

On the occasion of tNational Periodontist Day 2026 Department of Periodontology, Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar featured a scientific lecture on the topic “Periodontal Precision: Saving Teeth, Sculpting Smiles.”
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Vasumati Patel, Professor and Head, Department of Periodontology and Implantology, Faculty of Dental Science, Dharmsinh Desai University, Nadiad, through a Zoom meeting.
All fourth year students, and interns from our college attended the session and greatly benefited from her insightful and informative presentation.

Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar observes World Su***de Prevention Day 2025

On the occasion of World Su***de Prevention Day, Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar, organized an awareness lecture for its students and staff members on the vital issue of su***de prevention.

The session was delivered by eminent psychiatrist Dr. Arun Khatri, who shared valuable insights on understanding the psychological factors that lead to suicidal thoughts and behaviors. He emphasized the importance of early identification of warning signs, reducing stigma surrounding mental health, importance of 'ventilation' and creating a supportive environment both within families and institutions.
