College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, JAU, Junagadh improved its ranking at National Level. In National Ranking of GHRDC Engineering Colleges Survey 2026.

It is a matter of proud for the University that the College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, JAU, Junagadh participated in the GHRDC Ranking of India's Top Engineering Colleges - 2026. In this survey, the marks were given based on infrastructure, faculty research, consultancy, EDP, other programmes, admission, curriculum, delivery systems, placements, USP, social responsibility, networking and industry interface. Under the able leadership of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, JAU, Dr. V. P. Chovatia, and Dr. H. D. Rank, Principal & Dean, CAET, Junagadh, Sincere guidance of university authority and consistent hard work of the faculty the college has improved its ranking in comparison to previous years and ranked 1st in the 6th category of Ranking of Top Engineering Colleges of Outstanding Excellence in India and got overall 20th ranking at National Level. The college ranked 4th in the West region of India. The college ranked 2nd in all Engineering Colleges of Gujarat State next to Nirma Institute of Technology, Ahmedabad. The college has improved its ranking continuously since last 15 years, which reflects the educational, research and extension strength of the college and the university.

Dr. N.B.Jadav, Director of Extension Education, Junagadh Agricultural University received “GAAS Award” by Gujarat Association for Agricultural Science, Gujarat.

On 19th May 2026, Dr. N. B. Jadav, Director of Extension Education, Junagadh Agricultural University, received the “GAAS Award” from the Gujarat Association for Agricultural Sciences in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Agricultural Extension education and activities. The award was presented by the Hon’ble Chancellor and Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, during a seminar jointly organized by GAAS, Gujarat and Gujarat Natural Farming Science University at GNSFU, Halol. The seminar was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Hon. MLA, Halol Shri Jaydrathsinhji Parmarsir,: Hon. Vice Chancellor of JAU, Junagadh, Dr. V. P. Chovatia; former Vice Chancellor of JAU and NAU, Dr. A. R. Pathak, who is also President of GAAS, Gujarat; along with other eminent guests and officials.

19th May 2026 was Double Bonanza day for Pearl Millet Research Station, Junagadh Agricultural University, Jamnagar. PMRS, JAU, Jamnagar station has achieved two remarkable tasks in one day. In one of the national-level events PMRS JAU, Jamnagar bagged consecutively the second year "Best Performing ICAR-AICRP Pearl Millet Centre" Award (2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26) for overall performance in pearl millet research and development. This year, Jamnagar has been adjudged as the Best research Station with rank 1. This award was given by ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad, in the presence of DDG(CS), Director, IIMR, ADG(FFC), PC, Pearl Millet and other dignitaries in AGM of Pearl Millet, Sorghum and Small Millets, 18-20 May 2026 held at UAS, Dharwad.
On the same day, in the second event PMRS, JAU, Jamnagar also appreciated with one state level award by GUJARAT ASSOCIATION FOR AGRICULTURE SCIENCE(GAAS), Ahmedabad for releasing early maturing hybrid GHB 538 Improved (Maru Sona) applying MAS tools. This award was given to Dr. K.D.Mungra, Research Scientist (Pearl Millet) and his team by Hon'ble Chancellor and Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat in the event Natural Farming Seminar Jointly organised by GAAS and Gujarat Natural Farming Science University held at GNSFU, Halol district Panchmahal, Gujarat.
Both these tasks have been achieved under the leadership of Dr K.D.Mungra and his team under the visionary guidance of Hon Vice Chancellor Dr. V.P. Chovatia, Director of Research, Dr. A.G.Pansuriya and other officers of Junagadh Agricultural University.

On 19 May 2026, Dr. S. K. Roy, Director of ICAR-ATARI, Zone-VIII, Pune, visited KVK, Porbandar, along with Dr. H. C. Chhodavadia, Associate Director of Extension Education at JAU. Dr. Roy interacted with the KVK staff regarding their activities in detail and also visited various demonstration units of KVK. He guided the staff on strengthening their extension activities and appreciated their efforts, achievements, and strong rapport with the farming community.

જૂનાગઢ કૃષિ યુનિવર્સિટી, જૂનાગઢ અને આઈ.સી.એ.આર.- અટારી, પુનેના સંયુક્ત ઉપક્રમે જૂનાગઢ કૃષિ યુનિવર્સિટી તથા નવસારી કૃષિ યુનિવર્સિટીનાં તમામ કૃષિ વિજ્ઞાન કેન્દ્રોના એન્યુઅલ એક્શન પ્લાન વર્કશોપ- ૨૦૨૬નું તા. ૨૦/૦૫/૨૦૨૬નાં રોજ જૂનાગઢ કૃષિ યુનિવર્સીટી ખાતે માનનીય કુલપતિશ્રી ડૉ. વી.પી. ચોવટિયા સાહેબનાં અધ્યક્ષસ્થાને આયોજન કરવામાં આવેલ. આ કાર્યક્રમાં સંશોધન નિયામકશ્રી ડૉ. એ. જી. પાનસુરીયા સાહેબ હાજર રહેલ. જેમાં ડો. એન. બી. જાદવ સાહેબ, વિસ્તરણ શિક્ષણ નિયામકશ્રીએ કાર્યક્રમની વિગત આપી ઉપસ્થિત સર્વેનું શાબ્દિક સ્વાગત કરેલ.

આ કાર્યક્રમમાં માન. કુલપતિશ્રી ડૉ. વી.પી. ચોવટિયા સાહેબશ્રીએ જણાવ્યું કે, બાયો ફર્ટીલાઈઝર, બાયોચાર અને ક્રોપ રેસિડ્યુંનો ઉપયોગ વધારવા તેમજ ખેત તલાવડી, નાના ચેક ડેમ દ્વારા પાણીનો સંગ્રહ કરવા જરૂરી કામગીરી કરવા જણાવેલ. ડો. એસ.કે. રોય સાહેબ, નિયામકશ્રી, આઈ.સી.એ.આર.- અટારી, પુને એ કૃષિ વિજ્ઞાન કેન્દ્રનાં એક્શન પ્લાનમાં સરકારનાં અન્ય વિભાગનાં કરવાના થતા કાર્યક્રમોને સામેલ કરી તેની અમલવારી અને રીપોર્ટીંગ કરવા જણાવેલ. ડૉ. એચ.આર. શર્મા સાહેબ, વિસ્તરણ શિક્ષણ નિયામકશ્રી, નવસારીએ ઇનપુટસનાં કાર્યક્ષમ ઉપયોગ દ્વારા ઉત્પાદન વધારવા તેમજ એઆઈ- ડ્રોન ટેકનોલોજીનો જરૂરી ઉપયોગ કરવા જણાવેલ.

Visits of Hon. Vice Chancellor, JAU, Junagadh to Kasturba Girls’ hostel and Gym.
Dr. V. P. Chovatia, Hon. Vice Chancellor, visited the Kasturba Girls’ Hostel and JAU Girls’ Gymnasium on 14.05.2026 along with Dr. A. G. Pansuriya, Director of Research & Dean, PG Studies; Dr. R. M. Solanki, Director of Students’ Welfare; and Dr. H. D. Rank, Principal & Dean, CAET, JAU, Junagadh. Dr. S. P. Cholera, SRC Chairman, Dr. H. V. Parmar, Rector, and Dr. Chandni Popaliya, Assistant Rector, also remained present during the visit.
During the visit, the Hon. Vice Chancellor appreciated the cleanliness and maintenance of the hostel premises, including the surroundings and overall hostel management. He particularly commended the efficient functioning of the mess, which is managed cooperatively by the students themselves. He also appreciated the various activities conducted by the students and the spirit of cooperation and discipline maintained among them. Further, he inspected the quality of the raw materials and cooked food items served in the mess and expressed satisfaction regarding the cleanliness, food quality, and dining arrangements for the girl students.
Thereafter, the Hon. Vice Chancellor visited the Girls’ Gymnasium and Yoga Hall. Along with the other dignitaries, he inspected the functioning of all the gymnasium equipment and expressed happiness on observing the proper maintenance, regular utilization, and systematic management of the gymnasium facilities and yoga activities.
Dr. V. P. Chovatia, along with the other dignitaries, also interacted with the girl students regarding various facilities and activities available in the hostel. He provided valuable guidance on hostel management, academic development, and career advancement, motivating the students towards a bright and successful future.

The AICRP on Seed (Crops) – Quality Seed Component has been recognized for Best Performance (SAU Category) in Quality Seed Production for the year 2025–26 during the 41st AGM held at SKUAST, Jammu. This remarkable achievement is led by Team Mega Seed (Department of Seed Science & Technology) under the guidance of Dr. J. B. Patel (Nodal Officer, AICRP on Seed (Crops) & Professor and Head, DSST), along with team members Dr. N. D. Dholariya, Dr. Jyoti Sondarva, Prof. D. V. Savalia, Dr. H. V. Bhoot, and Prof. M. H. Donga. This success has been made possible through the continuous support and visionary leadership of our Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr. V. P. Chovatia, Director of Research Dr. A. G. Pansuriya, and all university authorities, whose encouragement has strengthened our commitment to enhancing quality seed production year after year. College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Mota Bhandariya successfully organized a 16-day Financial Literacy Training Programme with the objective of strengthening the financial future of students and creating awareness about emerging career opportunities in the finance sector. Under the inspiration of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. V. P. Chovatia, the College of Agriculture, Mota Bhandariya, in collaboration with Bajaj Finserv Ltd., Pune, has organized the “Certificate Programme in Banking, Finance and Insurance (CPBFI)” from May 11 to May 26, 2026.
During the inaugural programme, the Principal of the college, Dr. D. S. Kelaiya, emphasized the importance of financial knowledge and financial planning among students. He stated that financial literacy has become extremely essential for the overall development of individuals in today’s era. On this occasion, Mr. Hemendra Purohit, Master Trainer from Bajaj Finserv Ltd., guided the students regarding the importance of financial literacy in day-to-day life.The entire training programme is being organized by faculty members Dr. V. C. Gadhiya, Dr. S. S. Sapre, Dr. V. V. Agrawat, Dr. P. H. Zala and Dr. P. J. Davaria.

ઐતિહાસિક હેટ્રિક: જૂનાગઢ કૃષિ યુનિવર્સિટીને સતત ત્રીજા વર્ષે રાષ્ટ્રીય એવોર્ડ મળ્યો
ગુજરાત રાજ્ય માટે એક ગૌરવપૂર્ણ સિદ્ધિના સમાચાર છે. જૂનાગઢ કૃષિ યુનિવર્સિટી (JAU) ના મુખ્ય તેલીબિયાં સંશોધન કેન્દ્ર (MORS) ને સતત ત્રીજા વર્ષે (૨૦૨૪, ૨૦૨૫ અને ૨૦૨૬) દેશના "શ્રેષ્ઠ મગફળી બ્રીડર સીડ પ્રોડ્યુસિંગ સેન્ટર" તરીકે સન્માનિત કરવામાં આવ્યું છે.
આ પ્રતિષ્ઠિત રાષ્ટ્રીય એવોર્ડ ઓલ ઈન્ડિયા કોઓર્ડિનેટેડ રિસર્ચ પ્રોજેક્ટ ઓન ગ્રાઉન્ડનટ (AICRP-G) ની વાર્ષિક બેઠક દરમિયાન એનાયત કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. આ બેઠક ૨૧-૨૩ એપ્રિલ, ૨૦૨૬ દરમિયાન એગ્રીકલ્ચર કોલેજ, પુણે ખાતે યોજાઈ હતી, જેનું આયોજન મહાત્મા ફૂલે કૃષિ વિદ્યાપીઠ (MPKV), રાહુરી અને ICAR-મગફળી સંશોધન નિર્દેશાલય (DGR), જૂનાગઢ દ્વારા સંયુક્ત રીતે કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું.
ખાદ્ય તેલમાં "આત્મનિર્ભર ભારત" ને મજબૂત બનાવવું
બેઠકનો મુખ્ય ઉદ્દેશ્ય ખેડૂતો, કૃષિ-ઉદ્યોગપતિઓ અને નિકાસકારોની જરૂરિયાતોને ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને ટેકનિકલ નીતિઓ ઘડવાનો હતો. નેશનલ મિશન ઓન એડિબલ ઓઈલ્સ (NMEO) હેઠળ ખાદ્ય તેલમાં દેશને સ્વાવલંબી બનાવવાનો મુખ્ય લક્ષ્યાંક નક્કી કરવામાં આવ્યો છે.
મગફળીમાં મોટા જથ્થામાં બ્રીડર સીડની જરૂરિયાત એક પડકાર છે. જૂનાગઢ કૃષિ યુનિવર્સિટીના મુખ્ય તેલીબિયાં સંશોધન કેન્દ્રએ વર્ષ ૨૦૨૫ ની ઉનાળુ અને ખરીફ સીઝન દરમિયાન કુલ ૧૦,૩૫૭ ક્વિન્ટલ બ્રીડર સીડનું વિક્રમી ઉત્પાદન કરીને મોટી સફળતા મેળવી છે. આ ઉત્પાદન મુખ્યત્વે છેલ્લા પાંચ વર્ષમાં બહાર પાડવામાં આવેલી નવી જાતોનું કરવામાં આવ્યું છે, જેથી ખેડૂતોને વધુ ઉત્પાદન આપતી અને રોગપ્રતિકારક જાતો મળી રહે.
સિદ્ધિના મુખ્ય અંશો:
• સાતત્ય: સતત ત્રણ વર્ષ (૨૦૨૪-૨૦૨૬) સુધી "શ્રેષ્ઠ પ્રદર્શન" કરનાર દેશનું એકમાત્ર કેન્દ્ર.
• અસર: રાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તરે સીડ રિપ્લેસમેન્ટ રેટ (SRR) અને વેરાયટી રિપ્લેસમેન્ટ રેટ (VRR) વધારવા માટે ૧૦,૩૫૭ ક્વિન્ટલ બ્રીડર સીડનું મબલખ ઉત્પાદન.
• વ્યૂહાત્મક લક્ષ્ય: ફાઉન્ડેશન અને સર્ટિફાઇડ બીજ ઉત્પાદનની શૃંખલાને મજબૂત કરી "આત્મનિર્ભર ભારત" અભિયાનમાં સીધું યોગદાન.
યુનિવર્સિટીના નેતૃત્વ દ્વારા અભિનંદન
આ એવોર્ડ પ્રાપ્ત થવા બદલ યુનિવર્સિટીના માનનીય કુલપતિ ડો. વી. પી. ચોવટીયા અને સંશોધન નિયામક ડો. એ. જી. પાનસુરિયાએ સંશોધન ટીમને હાર્દિક અભિનંદન પાઠવ્યા હતા. તેમણે ખાસ કરીને મુખ્ય તેલીબિયાં સંશોધન વૈજ્ઞાનિક ડો. આર. બી. માદરિયા અને પ્રોજેક્ટ પી.આઈ. ડો. એન. ડી. ઢોલરીયાની રાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તરે આ હેટ્રિક હાંસલ કરવા બદલ પ્રશંસા કરી હતી.
માનનીય કુલપતિ ડો. વી. પી. ચોવટીયાએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, "આ સિદ્ધિ જૂનાગઢ કૃષિ યુનિવર્સિટી અને ગુજરાત રાજ્ય માટે ગૌરવ સમાન છે. બ્રીડર સીડ ઉત્પાદનમાં દેશનું નેતૃત્વ કરીને આપણા વૈજ્ઞાનિકો ખાદ્ય તેલ ઉત્પાદનમાં ભારતને સ્વાવલંબી બનાવવાના વિઝનને સાકાર કરી રહ્યા છે."
યુનિવર્સિટી સત્તાધીશોએ ટીમને ભવિષ્યમાં પણ કૃષિ સંશોધન અને બીજ ટેકનોલોજી ક્ષેત્રે ઉત્કૃષ્ટ કામગીરી ચાલુ રાખવા પ્રોત્સાહિત કર્યા હતા જેથી ખેડૂત સમુદાય અને રાષ્ટ્રીય અર્થતંત્રને વધુ વેગ મળે.
