Sree Sankara College
Sree Sankara College was founded in the year 1954 by Swami Agamananda, an educationist and foresighted scholar of Sri Ramakrishna Advaita Ashram. The institution has established a niche of its own in the generation and dissemination of knowledge, imparting multiple skill development, and above all, serving the community in and around Kalady, the birth place of Adi Sankara, which stretches to an area of 9 Grama Panchayaths. This institution became a First Grade college in 1956, and was affiliated to the then Travancore University. The college got UGC recognition in 1957 under 2 ( f ), 12 ( B ). The Sringeri Mutt took over the administration of the college in 1960. At present the college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University. The college volunteered to be assessed and accredited by NAAC in 1999.
