The Department of Ship Technology is one of the pioneers in the field of Naval Architecture education in India, established in 1974. A B.Tech programme in Naval Architecture and Ship Building was started in 1975. In technical collaboration with the University of Rostock, Germany since 1978, it is producing Naval Architects to meet the requirements of shipbuilding industry, Ship Classification Soci

eties,R&D organisations, the Indian Navy and other related organisations. The department maintains collaboration with IITs, Universities outside India, Naval Science and Technological Laboratory(NSTL), Vizag and shipyards. These organisations extend their facilities and expertise to impart training to the B.Tech students.
