The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kallol Paul, inaugurated the One-Day National Level Seminar on “Contextualizing AI in Education and Research,” organized by the Department of Education, University of Kalyani, in collaboration with the IQAC, on 17 June 2026. The seminar was attended by eminent academicians, including Prof. K. Srinivas (NIEPA, Ministry of Education, Government of India), Prof. (Dr.) Nabarun Bhattacharyya (MAKAUT), Prof. Kumaresh Ghosh, Dean, Faculty of Education (Acting), Prof. Anirban Mukhopadhyay, Director, IQAC, and Prof. Pares Chandra Biswas, Former Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Kalyani.
In his inaugural address, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence in education and research. He emphasized that AI should be used responsibly, with proper verification of its outputs, and should complement rather than replace traditional teaching methods. Stressing the importance of balancing technology with classroom learning, he noted the immense potential of AI in enhancing students’ learning experiences. He encouraged students to engage actively with the experts and expressed confidence that the seminar would contribute significantly to their academic growth.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, staff, students, and research scholars, contributing to its overall success.

Today(17.06.2026), in presence of Prof. Kallol Paul, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Kalyani, a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) is made between The Indian Institute of Information Technology(IIIT), Kalyani represented by Dr. Santanu Chattopadhyay, Director, and The Kalyani University, Kalyani represented by Dr. Debansu Ray, Registrar. IIIT Kalyani evolving as a world-class academic institution with the highest quality of education and research facilities The Kalyani University having teaching and research departments, and affiliated several institutes have discussed the matter and have agreed for collaboration by this Memorandum of Understanding to organize joint collaborative research, joint academic program, faculty support for various courses etc. Prof. Partha Pratim Sarkar is bestwoed with the responsibility of nodal officer for this project. University of Kalyani Completes Its First Village Adoption Programme on 5th June, World Environment Day, the University of Kalyani, through its Centre for Women’s Studies, formally adopted Panchpota Village under its first Village Adoption Programme. The initiative was implemented with generous financial support from State Bank of India (SBI) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Over the course of a year, various activities focusing on community development, women’s empowerment, health and hygiene awareness, education, and environmental sustainability were carried out for the benefit of the village community.
The University expresses its sincere gratitude to State Bank of India for its valuable support in making this pioneering initiative a success. The programme reflects the University's commitment to community engagement, environmental awareness, and social responsibility.

সাংবাদিকতার পাঠ, সার্টিফিকেট প্রদান ও নতুন যাত্রার সূচনা — কল্যাণী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে এক অনন্য আয়োজন

বাংলা বিভাগ, কল্যাণী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উদ্যোগে পরিচালিত জার্নালিজম সার্টিফিকেট কোর্স-এর অষ্টম ব্যাচের সার্টিফিকেট প্রদান এবং নবম ব্যাচের শুভারম্ভ উপলক্ষে আজ অনুষ্ঠিত হলো এক তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ অনুষ্ঠান।

অনুষ্ঠানের প্রথম পর্বে “সাংবাদিকতার পাঠ এবং…” শীর্ষক আলোচনায় অংশগ্রহণ করেন বিশিষ্ট লেখক ও যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন অধ্যাপক সঞ্জয় মুখোপাধ্যায় এবং কবি-সাংবাদিক চিন্ময়কুমার দাস। সাংবাদিকতার ইতিহাস, বর্তমান চ্যালেঞ্জ, নৈতিকতা এবং গণমাধ্যমের সামাজিক ভূমিকা নিয়ে তাঁদের মূল্যবান বক্তব্য শিক্ষার্থীদের সমৃদ্ধ করেছে।

পরবর্তী পর্বে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় অষ্টম ব্যাচের সার্টিফিকেট প্রদান এবং নবম ব্যাচের শুভারম্ভ অনুষ্ঠান। অনুষ্ঠানের উদ্বোধন করেন কল্যাণী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক কল্লোল পাল। তাঁর উদ্বোধনী ভাষণে তিনি সাংবাদিকতার ক্ষেত্রে সত্যনিষ্ঠা ও দায়বদ্ধতার গুরুত্ব বিশেষভাবে তুলে ধরেন। তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্দেশে বলেন, কোনো সংবাদ পরিবেশন বা প্রকাশের আগে তার প্রামাণিকতা ও সত্যতা যাচাই করা অত্যন্ত জরুরি। একই সঙ্গে তিনি বর্তমান ডিজিটাল যুগে সংবাদ নির্মাণ ও প্রচারের ক্ষেত্রে বিভিন্ন গণমাধ্যম ও ডিজিটাল প্ল্যাটফর্মের কার্যকর ও দায়িত্বশীল ব্যবহারের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। তিনি আরও উল্লেখ করেন যে, সমাজের প্রতি দায়বদ্ধ ও সচেতন সাংবাদিক গড়ে তোলার ক্ষেত্রে এই ধরনের প্রশিক্ষণমূলক কর্মসূচির বিশেষ গুরুত্ব রয়েছে।

অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন অধ্যাপক নন্দিনী বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, বিভাগীয় প্রধান, বাংলা বিভাগ; অধ্যাপক সুখেন বিশ্বাস, কোর্সের অধিকর্তা ও বাংলা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক; পাশাপাশি বাংলা বিভাগের অন্যান্য শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকাবৃন্দ। তাঁদের সক্রিয় উপস্থিতি ও সহযোগিতা অনুষ্ঠানটিকে আরও সমৃদ্ধ করে তোলে।

অষ্টম ব্যাচের সকল সফল শিক্ষার্থীকে আন্তরিক অভিনন্দন এবং নবম ব্যাচের শিক্ষার্থীদের জানাই উজ্জ্বল ভবিষ্যতের শুভেচ্ছা।

World Environment Day 2026 Observed at the University of Kalyani
Today(5th June 2026), the University of Kalyani successfully organized a One-Day Seminar on World Environment Day 2026, along with a Plantation Programme, No Plastic and Waste Reduction Campaign, and University Campus Cleaning Drive under the theme: “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”
The programme was jointly organized by the Department of Environmental Science, DESKU EIACP PC-RP on Environmental Biotechnology (MoEF&CC, Government of India) , and the NSS Cell, University of Kalyani.
The event commenced at Vidyasagar Sabhagriha in the gracious presence of Prof. Kallol Paul, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Kalyani through video conference, who emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable practices in higher education institutions in his inaugural address.
