The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kallol Paul, inaugurated the One-Day National Level Seminar on “Contextualizing AI in Education and Research,” organized by the Department of Education, University of Kalyani, in collaboration with the IQAC, on 17 June 2026. The seminar was attended by eminent academicians, including Prof. K. Srinivas (NIEPA, Ministry of Education, Government of India), Prof. (Dr.) Nabarun Bhattacharyya (MAKAUT), Prof. Kumaresh Ghosh, Dean, Faculty of Education (Acting), Prof. Anirban Mukhopadhyay, Director, IQAC, and Prof. Pares Chandra Biswas, Former Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Kalyani.
In his inaugural address, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence in education and research. He emphasized that AI should be used responsibly, with proper verification of its outputs, and should complement rather than replace traditional teaching methods. Stressing the importance of balancing technology with classroom learning, he noted the immense potential of AI in enhancing students’ learning experiences. He encouraged students to engage actively with the experts and expressed confidence that the seminar would contribute significantly to their academic growth.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, staff, students, and research scholars, contributing to its overall success.
