Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (IHTM) on its university campus.

Hospitality sector in India is estimated to see an estimated growth of US$ 11.41 billion in the next two years. Hospitality, therefore, is considered as an important area for intensive development by all governments. Also,
as fastest growing foreign exchange earner, it is being given priority attention by the developing countries. Keeping in mind that tourists normally spend about 40% of their fun

ds on accommodation and foods, it is
imperative that great care must be taken to provide quality services by hospitality professionals for all the
budgetary classes of tourists. Adequate numbers of well trained professionals are thus an absolute necessity
for the hospitality industry. To cater to this need, training institutions with state-of-art facilities has become
essential. Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, which already runs programs in tourism in Tourism
Management, Food Technology and Microbiology at masters level is now going in to start a state-of-art
Institution of Hotel Management on its campus.
