MVI officer Kokrajhar interaction with media persons at Kokrajhar inconnection speeding vehicles threaten wildlife in Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park

Kokrajhar, June 1: Growing concern has been raised over the safety of wildlife in Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park as speeding tourist vehicles on the Ultapani–Saralpara road continue to kill rare animals and birds.

According to reports, several Golden Langurs have been killed by high-speed vehicles in the past week. Many birds, butterflies, and other wildlife species are also falling victim to reckless driving in the area.

The popular Saralpara picnic spot is increasingly being described as a “death corridor” for wildlife due to overspeeding, lack of conservation awareness, and alleged negligence by the authorities.

Environmentalists and wildlife lovers have demanded immediate action, including speed limits, wildlife protection awareness campaigns, and strict enforcement against drunk driving to prevent further loss of endangered species and protect the park’s rich biodiversity.
