“But man is not made for defeat… A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” Earnst Hemingway's words have inspired generations not to lose heart. In 2022-23, it did it's bit for us. Since the second quarter of 2022 there has been a word about a possible post covid slowdown in various quarters. But we didn't think if at all it hit us, it'll hit us right at the heart. Nevertheless, the courageous students of Post Graduation of the Computer Science/ IT collective of Jadavpur University triumphed all odds and secured placements seldom seen before. Despite of the massive lay offs which began in November 2022, and continued till the very end of the placement season, the students of PG CS/IT were able to secure a placement record of 82% of it's students with 140+ offers in 70+ companies.
With reducing recruitment figures from the third quarter of 2022 to an all time low in February March 2023, our students were able to secure every opportunity they got from whoever offered. Inspite of such a sad state of affairs PG CS/IT of Jadavpur University was able to secure a highest package of 46.6 LPA CTC from Amazon, and an average package of 8.2 LPA CTC, which is phenomenal considering the individual intake of each company.
PG CS/IT has seen a steady growth in terms of highest package received as well as in terms of the average package received and the percentage of students placed. Several reputed companies realized potential in PG CS/IT including Amazon, Samsung who selected a considerable number of students, Airbus, PWC, Deutsch Bank, Schneider Electric, Texas Instruments etc, a tradition that is pushed to greater heights every year.
Lastly we want to thank all of our professors, mentors, lab assistants, and PhD scholars who have helped us through this topsy turvy placement season. We would also like to thank Mrs. Samita Bhattacharya, Training and Placement Officer, OSD, Jadavpur University for her unwavering support for our cause.
Signing off,
Placement Committee, PG, CS/IT, Jadavpur University.
