IISWBM-Indian Institute Of Social Welfare and Business Management Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM) was established in 1953 as the first Management Institute in India. C. N. V.

IISWBM, Kolkata is one of the Premier Management Educational Institutes in Eastern India. The precious journey of the Institute commenced on April 25, 1953 when it was formed by a resolution of the Syndicate of the University of Calcutta. The auspicious moment of fifty years of its existence arrived on April 25, 2003 and remains as a landmark in the history of the Institute. During the initial yea

rs, the Institute was referred to as All India Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management and in the year 1958 the name IISWBM was incorporated. This esteemed Institute initiated the first programme of management education in India. The Golden Jubilee Celebrations of IISWBM heralds the legacy of the treasured 50 years which is full of unforgettable moments. The fifty years of management education in India epitomises the prestigious presence of IISWBM. The Institute is located in the historic College Square area, which is steeped in the legacy of the yesteryears. The prevalence of heritage buildings like University of Calcutta, Presidency College, Calcutta Medical College and All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health surrounding IISWBM enhances its academic ambience. The Institute building comprises two blocks. The foundation stones of both buildings were laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India and Dr. B. Roy, Chief Minister of West Bengal. In the course of its existence for five decades, the Institute has produced quite a few distinguished alumni who are nationally and internationally acclaimed for their contributions and command admiration of their colleagues in areas of their choice. Some of the better known of these alumni are Professor Sumantra Ghosal of London Business School, Shri L. Mittal of the ISPAT group, Shri Sudhir Jalan, Former President of FICCI and Dr. C. Chandrashekaran, Managing Director of Balmer Lawrie group. The Institute encourages its alumni to enrol in their database available online at alumni.iiswbm.edu and maintains cordial contacts with them.

Campus placement for phase-1 has been extremely promising and on a positive note with a total of 11 companies offering HR profiles out of which 5 of them were 1st time recruiters
Below is the snapshot of phase-1 campus placement for HR candidates-
1. Percentage of student placed-40%
2. Highest CTC- 6.5
3. Average CTC- 5.56
4. Partial list of recruiters- TCS, Wipro, TCS BPS, CTS, Ujjivan, HUL, Bajaj Allianz, Blue star, Ruchi Soya Industries....

We expect 9 more companies who are already lined up by the month of January for HR profiles

Every photograph is just like magic – it has the ability to stir the soul and shape and colour, to create grand visual moments out of small and simple things, and to infuse big and complicated subjects with unpretentious elegance.

The theme of the contest is “colour the life”.All photographs should be sent to (([email protected])) in a digital format (JPEG files only) by 11:59 pm on 30th january 2012

Judging Criteria

1. Number of 'Likes' on the Genesis page, where the entries will be uploaded.
2. Marks will be awarded by our panel of judges. Participants would be judged on their creativity, vision and Photography skills.
3. 60% weightage will be given on number of “likes” on the photo uploaded on the Genesis page and 40% weightage on the marks given by judges.
4. The likes that a photograph has gathered up till 2nd february will be considered for the final evaluation.
