With the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), undergraduate education in India is undergoing an important transformation. One of the major changes is the four-year B.Sc. degree structure, which not only strengthens academic foundations but also opens direct opportunities for skill development, industry exposure, and placements.

At Adamas University, we are excited to introduce our B.Sc. in Geoinformatics program from the upcoming academic session. This program has been designed keeping both academic progression and industry readiness in mind.

The four-year structure provides a strong advantage for students interested in higher studies. After completing the B.Sc., students will have the opportunity to pursue a 1-year M.Sc. in Geoinformatics, creating a seamless pathway for advanced specialization in the geospatial domain.

At the same time, we have not forgotten the core values of Geography. Geoinformatics is not just about learning tools or software. A true geospatial scientist must understand where things happen, why they happen, and how spatial analysis can help solve real-world problems.

Therefore, this program will provide students with:
• Strong grounding in core geographical concepts
• Training in GIS, Remote Sensing, and spatial analytics
• Opportunities for fieldwork, data analysis, and real-world problem solving
• Exposure to industry applications and emerging geospatial technologies

Our goal is to nurture complete geospatial scientists—professionals who can not only use advanced tools but also interpret spatial patterns, understand processes, and contribute to meaningful solutions for society.

If you are passionate about maps, data, environment, cities, and spatial technology, this could be the perfect program for you.

Admissions are now open. Come join us and be part of the next generation of geospatial thinkers and innovators!

The Department of Geography, Adamas University takes pride in announcing that two of our M.Sc. Geoinformatics students have reached the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) in Hyderabad, one of the nodal offices under the esteemed Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to pursue a four-month internship and a joint project in collaboration with the Department of Geography. Previously, our students had the privilege of gaining hands-on experience at the Regional Remote Sensing Centre (RRSC) East in Kolkata.

However, this time, the internship takes place at NRSC Hyderabad, adding another dimension to our students' exposure and learning experiences.

Guess what? We just launched something awesome at Adamas University with CyberTech! 🚀

On April 29th, 2024, we inaugurated the **Centre of Excellence*** right in the heart of our green campus! 🌿 And guess who did the honors?

- Mr. Sameer Gupte, Senior VP of CyberTech!

He officially opened the **ArcGIS Hub** of Excellence and shared some super inspiring words with our Geography and Geoinformatics students. 🌍✨

Huge thanks to Hon'Chnacellor Sir , VC Sir, Kasturi madam and her team, Mr. Gupte and CyberTech for making this happen!

Stay tuned for more updates on our journey of learning and innovation!

Happy to share insights from my M.Sc. dissertation fieldwork at Adamas University!

Anirban Biswas, a Fourth Semester Geography student, embarked on a comprehensive study of the Kansai River in Puruliya district, West Bengal. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Partha Basu and Dr. Tuhin Bhadra, the fieldwork unfolded from December 27th to 31st, 2023, and January 6th to 7th, 2024.

Key Observations Include:
1️⃣ Velocity measurements at different depths for channel discharge determination.
2️⃣ Ripple mark assessments on submerged sand beds.
3️⃣ Braiding index measurement and calculation.
4️⃣ Construction of the longitudinal profile of the river.
5️⃣ In-depth study of lithology in the channel bed and river banks.
6️⃣ Determination of Bank Erosion Potential Index (BEPI) along the highly eroded left bank.
7️⃣ Examination of bedding patterns along the banks.
8️⃣ Collection of sediment and water samples.
This hands-on research not only advances Anirban's academic journey but also contributes valuable insights to our understanding of river dynamics.

Stay tuned for more updates on this fascinating exploration!
