What a fantastic event we had yesterday!!

We had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Peyush Bansal to address the gathering. He narrated the pathbreaking steps he took to make Lenskart the top eyewear brand in the country and emphasized the need for innovation and for a supportive manufacturing ecosystem to make India the manufacturing superpower.

We also had the privilege of hosting Dr. Amitabh Saran, founder and CEO, Altigreen Propulsion Labs, notable entrepreneur of the current age with a vision of minimal carbon footprint and maximum ecofriendly transport solutions. He elaborated the very essence of entrepreneurship with a great quote, "Startups often fail not because of starvation, but because of indigestion." With his electric vehicle startup Altigreen Propulsion Labs, he is already a key contributor to making India the manufacturing superpower.

On today's panel, we were also fortunate to have Mr. Jyoti Kumar Agarwal, CFO, IndiGrid. Mr. Agarwal gave some crucial insights into the paradigm shift in manufacturing and how we must have a competent R&D ecosystem to fill the skill gaps. He also encouraged the manufacturing enthusiasts present in the discussion to take a more pivotal role to put the Indian manufacturing sector as a better contributor to India's GDP.

On behalf of the VLM community, we would like to thank everyone for being a part of VLM Nexus.

We are thankful to the Director, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) for starting the proceedings, the Chairperson of the VLMP program, the professors, DEAN and coordinators from all three institutes for their exceptional addresses. We specially thank Sarita Nagpal and Mr. G. Sunderraman from Confederation of Indian Industry for addressing the gathering with their words of wisdom. Special mention and thanks to the VLMP offices of all three institutes for this grand successful event. And last but not the least, we thank all the beloved alumni, who made the event exciting and memorable with their presence.

The brainchild of our president late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, PGPEX-VLM was perhaps the most audacious experiment of its time- involving three of the most premier institutes of the country, targeted at the triple bottom line. The course is curated by academia, Confederation of Indian Industries, JICA, and supported by both governments of India and Japan. For over 15 years, the course has produced leaders in all sectors of Indian Manufacturing, perhaps the most critical resource for making India the manufacturing superpower.
As India celebrates the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav this year with the very central idea of synthesizing "Atma Nirbhar Bharat" to obtain competence and excellence in the Indian Manufacturing ecosystem, we, the VLMP community, will celebrate the journey of glorious 15 years along with the academia and eminent industry leaders. So do join us on Sunday-6th March,2022 to celebrate and witness industry stalwarts appreciate what lies ahead.

Congratulations to our PGPEX-VLM 15th batch students for earning another feat for IIM Calcutta.

Kudos to Kumar Singh, Sahil Arora, and Ravi Barnwal for grabbing 2nd Position while competing with 2703 teams from top colleges across the country in the national level case study competition – ‘Sanchaalan’ organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
The challenge was to create an expansion plan for a retail company. Following the application of Classroom Learning mixed with their diverse experiences, they came up with a unique and scalable proposition that impressed the jury.

The third term for the 15th Batch of PGPEX VLM ended on a high note at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. The whole time was like a roller coaster ride; the physical classes led to muscle stretching exercises for the entire cohort. Everyone had to ride bicycles to the courses from their hostel at this beautiful 1300+ acres campus.

In terms of curriculum, it was power-packed with learning from some prominent personalities in education, such as Prof. Manindra Agrawal for Cryptography, Mrs. Jhumkee Iyengar for Design Thinking, Prof Ashutosh Khanna (PhD) for Innovation Audit.

From making prototypes to conducting market research to the late-night exams, this term was a heck of a journey for all of us. Adding to the thrill, the entire batch got an opportunity to fly in the cockpit with the pilot and had a literal aerial view of IIT Kanpur.

We want to give a special thank you note to Prof Deepu Philip for making this term possible at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Everyone left the campus with lots of memories to cherish for their lifetime.
Next stop….Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
