SLIET celebrated National Voter’s Day 2025, Encouraging Democratic Engagement among Youth.
The Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal, Punjab, commemorated National Voter’s Day 2025 on January 25, emphasising the importance of active participation in the democratic process. The event was organised by the SLIET Electoral Literacy Club in collaboration with the Scholarship Cell and brought together students, faculty, and staff to reflect on the power of voting in shaping the nation’s future. Delivering the keynote address, Chief Guest Prof. Mani Kant Paswan, Director of SLIET, highlighted voting as both a right and a responsibility. “Casting a vote is a fundamental act of citizenship—it is our way of contributing to a just and representative society,” he stated, inspiring the audience to recognise their role in strengthening democracy. The event was organised under the mentorship of Prof. M. M. Sinha, Dean of Student Welfare and Guest of Honour; Dr. Praveen Khanna; Dr. Indraj Singh, Dr. J.S. Gill, and Dr. Subita Bhagat; along with overall student coordinators Bhavya Jyoti Singh and Ashish Singh; and coordinator Md Sayeed, along with their team, were recognised for their contributions to making the event a success. The program also celebrated the efforts of students and faculty in organising pre-event activities and competitions aimed at raising awareness about voting. Through this celebration, SLIET reaffirmed its commitment to cultivating civic awareness and empowering its community to contribute meaningfully to the democratic process.
