Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Bhrigu Nath Singh welcomed the distinguished guest, in the presence of Prof. Manish Sharma, Dean, School of Technology, Dr. Praveen Dwivedi, Coordinator, Department of ECE, faculty and students of the University.

Insightful Session on Supply Chain Management
Prof. Damodar Acharya, former Director of IIT Kharagpur and former Chairman, AICTE, New Delhi, delivered a thought-provoking session highlighting the real-world complexities of Supply Chain Management. Moving beyond idealized models, he emphasized that supply chains are largely shaped by constraints and uncertainties, making adaptability a key success factor.
He underscored the importance of identifying bottlenecks and maintaining a delicate balance between cost efficiency and service levels. According to him, seamless coordination and timely information flow are just as critical as the physical movement of goods, as many disruptions stem from misalignment across different functions.
Drawing from the aviation sector, Prof. Acharya shared compelling examples illustrating how even minor delays in parts, maintenance, or ground handling can cascade into major disruptions in flight schedules. These insights reinforced the significance of precision, timing, and real-time decision-making in high-stakes environments.
Tracing the roots of logistics back to its military origins, he highlighted how the principles of efficient resource movement and coordination remain relevant even today. He concluded by stressing that modern supply chains must be resilient, flexible, and strategically managed to navigate variability and ensure reliability.
