Founded in 1958 as Loreto Degree College, it was taken over by the Avadh Educational Society in 1976 from Loreto Convent. Kamla Bhargava as Manager. BC Sharma became its first Principal. e excellent and dedicated staff, the College steered through the changeover smoothly. Today, it is a leading institution, having imparted value based education to innumerable students for over five decades. The College inculcates and encourages academic and extra academic excellence in its students. Thousands of students have passed through its portals, equipped to successfully take their place in society. The Jal Jeevan Utsav was successfully organized by the NCC Unit, 19 U.P. Girls Battalion, Lucknow, at Avadh Girls’ Degree College with the objective of promoting awareness on water conservation and sustainable use of water resources.

The programme was conducted under the able guidance of the Principal, Prof. Bina Rai, and the dynamic leadership of Lt. Dr. Sarita Singh, Associate NCC Officer, whose support and motivation ensured the smooth ex*****on of the event.

As part of the celebration, a Poster Making Competition was organized, encouraging students to creatively express ideas related to the Jal Jeevan Mission and environmental responsibility. The competition was judged by Dr. Maulishri Shukla, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology, and Subedar Sunil Kumar, Permanent Instructor, 19 U.P. Girls Battalion NCC.

In addition, NCC cadets performed a Nukkad Natak highlighting the importance of water conservation, responsible usage of water, and the consequences of water wastage. The performance effectively conveyed strong social messages and received wide appreciation from the audience.

The entire event was efficiently managed by Senior Under Officer Khushi Kumari and Under Officer Jagrati, reflecting excellent leadership, discipline, and teamwork.

On the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji on 25th December 2025, The Department of Political science and Pt. Birju Maharaj Cultural Club organised an online Poetry recitation Competition based on the poems of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. The aim of the competition was to make students aware of Indian literature, patriotism, and moral values through poetry.

Many students from department of political science participated in the competition. They recited famous poems of Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji with confidence, proper pronunciation, and expression. His poems reflected themes of patriotism, peace, humanity, and national unity, which deeply impressed the students. The event was organised under the able guidance of our respected principal Prof. Bina Rai, Prof. Preeti Awasthi Head, Dept.Of Political Science, Mrs. Pragati Nigam Asst.Professor Dept.of Political Science. Cadets from Avadh Girls’ Degree College, representing the 19 U.P. Girls Battalion, participated with pride in the *Kayaking Competition* organized by the 3 U.P. Naval NCC Unit, Lucknow, on 11 December 2025 at the Gomti Nagar Riverfront. Under Officer Kumari Maya and Lance Corporal Saniya Sharma demonstrated enthusiasm, discipline, and excellent sportsmanship while competing with cadets from various NCC units.

The competition, conducted through multiple heats from preliminaries to semi-finals and finals, tested kayaking skills, speed, balance, and navigation, promoting teamwork, physical endurance, and a spirit of adventure. Both cadets performed commendably in the semi-finals, showcasing strong technique, coordination, and determination. *UO Kumari Maya secured an impressive 3rd position in the semi-final, reflecting her dedication and the quality training imparted under NCC guidance.*

Overall, the event was adventurous, well-organized, and enriching, providing a valuable platform for cadets to apply their training in a competitive environment while bringing credit to the college and battalion.

The Healthon Marathon was held on 30 November 2025 at Janeshwar Mishra Park, witnessing remarkable enthusiasm and active participation. Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Bina Rai, who appreciated the cadets’ dedication and extended her best wishes, and the dynamic leadership of Lt. Dr. Sarita Singh, nine cadets from Avadh Girls’ Degree College, representing the 19 UP Girls’ Battalion NCC Lucknow, participated with great zeal.

The cadets who took part in the marathon were SGT Vanya Shukla, CPL Shalini Singh, Cadet Shweta, Cadet Pallavi, Cadet Vandana, Cadet Tanishka, Cadet Anshika, Cadet Sadiya Praveen, and Cadet Priyanka Singh.

The 2 km and 5 km races were flagged off at 7:00 AM, and the event was conducted smoothly with excellent coordination. Upon completion of the marathon, participants were awarded medals in recognition of their effort, discipline, and sportsmanship.

The event proved to be a motivating and memorable experience, fostering a spirit of fitness, perseverance, and teamwork among the cadets.

Report on Three-Day Self-Defence Workshop Under Mission Shakti 5.0
18–20 November 2025 | Avadh Girls’ Degree College, Lucknow

A three-day Self-Defence Workshop was successfully organised at Avadh Girls’ Degree College from 18th to 20th November 2025 under the aegis of Mission Shakti 5.0. The programme was jointly conducted by the Department of Physical Education and NCC , 19 UP Girls Battalion of the college with the aim of empowering young women through essential self-defence skills.

The training sessions were led by Cadet Bhoomi, a certified Taekwondo trainer, and Cadet Dolly Rawat, a certified Judo trainer, who provided intensive practical demonstrations and hands-on techniques to help participants build confidence, physical awareness, and personal safety strategies.

The workshop was organised under the guidance of Principal Prof. Bina Rai and the leadership of NCC Officer and Head, Department of Physical Education, Lt. Dr. Sarita Singh. Their support ensured meaningful learning and smooth coordination throughout the three days.

A total of 85 students enthusiastically participated in the workshop, engaging actively in drills and exercises designed to strengthen self-defence preparedness. Under Officer Jagrati efficiently managed the event, ensuring seamless conduct of all sessions and maintaining discipline and order.

On the final day, Principal Prof. Bina Rai distributed certificates to all students who successfully completed the three-day training programme, appreciating their dedication and encouraging them to continue practising self-defence as an essential life skill.

Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Bina Rai and the able leadership of Lieutenant Dr. Sarita Singh, seven cadets of Avadh Girls’ Degree College, representing the 19 UP Girls’ Battalion NCC, Lucknow, participated with great enthusiasm in the SK Lucknow Marathon held on 16 November 2025 at 1090 Chauraha.

The 4 km race was flagged off at 6:40 AM, and the route began and concluded at 1090 Chauraha, where excellent logistical arrangements ensured a smooth conduct of the event. The participating cadets displayed commendable discipline, fitness, and determination throughout the marathon.

After the race, medals were awarded to the runners, recognizing their commitment and motivating them to continue embracing a culture of health, resilience, and sportsmanship.
The event concluded successfully, reflecting the dedication of the cadets and the strong support system provided by the college and the NCC unit.

The cadets of Avadh Girls’ Degree College had the distinguished opportunity to present the Guard of Honour to the Director General of NCC, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, an event conducted under the guidance of the 19 UP Girls Battalion. A total of three cadets from the college were selected for the prestigious Guard of Honour: SUO Khushi Kumari, UO Jagriti Kumari, and SGT Nish*ta Sahni, while CPL Isha Mishra was selected for piloting duties.

The selected cadets underwent rigorous training and practice sessions for 15 consecutive days at the battalion headquarters, demonstrating discipline, dedication, and exemplary team spirit. Their final presentation of the Guard of Honour on 4th November 2025 at the Lucknow Headquarters was a moment of immense pride for the college.

The Director General was received with full protocol by the Commanding Officer of Lucknow Group along with Commanding Officers of all associated battalions. In his address, the Director General appreciated the cadets for their commendable performance, precision, and sense of duty. He also encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and to uphold the core values of the National Cadet Corps.

The Departments of Physical Education, Anthropology, and the NCC unit of the college jointly hosted a curtain raiser play titled “Maa Mujhe Tagore Bana De” as a part of the Kabir Festival on 18th November 2025. The event aimed at connecting the youth and civil society with the timeless humanistic ideals of Sant Kabir, who emphasized compassion, equality, simplicity, and spiritual awakening.

The college auditorium witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members who deeply appreciated the meaningful performance. The play served as a powerful medium to introduce young minds to the cultural and philosophical heritage associated with Sant Kabir, highlighting how his teachings remain relevant in contemporary society.

The play was performed by acclaimed actor-director Mr. Lucky Gupta from Jammu, who has previously staged this renowned work over 1,700 times across various states and cities, reaching lakhs of viewers. The narrative, based on a student’s bitter-sweet journey of self-discovery, blended humour, emotion, and introspection, making it both engaging and thought-provoking.

The performance not only enriched the cultural environment of the college but also provided students with meaningful direction and inspiration. Through entertainment, it subtly delivered strong messages about values, personal growth, and social awareness—aligning perfectly with the Kabir Festival’s broader objective of reconnecting society with the principles of humanity and harmony.

Overall, the event was a resounding success and left a lasting impact on the audience, encouraging them to reflect on the teachings of Sant Kabir and their relevance in shaping a more empathetic and enlightened generation.

Under the aegis of Mission Shakti phase -5 Department of Political Science, Department of Education and Department of History of Avadh Girls' Degree College celebrated the birth anniversaries of Rani Lakshmibai and first Women Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi on 19th November 2025.

The event began with a respectful Floral Tribute to Rani Lakshmibai and Smt.Indira Gandhi, followed by the screening of an inspiring documentary highlighting the patriotism, courage, leadership, and National contributions of both iconic Women Leader's.The Principal Prof. Bina Rai addressed the students, reminding them of the extraordinary strength, determination, and patriotism shown by these great leaders and encouraged them to follow their ideals .The program was honored by the presence of faculty Members Prof. Preeti Awasthi, Mrs. Meena, Mrs. Pragati Nigam, Dr. Himani Maheshwari,Ms. Kavita Yadav, and Dr. Amina Hassan their presence made the celebration even more meaningful.

The Sports Club of Avadh Girls' Degree College in association with UP Warriorz organised a Fun and Frolic games event on the 21st of November, 2025 at the Basketball court, 10:30 am onwards. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. Fun challenges like "balance the ball on the bat," "smash the stereotype," and "complete the puzzles" were held. These challenges were organised to test the skills, agility, hand and eye coordination and target accuracy of the students. The students displayed their prowess and won several prizes. The faculty members eagerly participated in the challenges and won accolades. True to its name, the event infused the faculty and students with zeal, merriment and sportsmanship. Under the aegis of Mission Shakti Phase 5 , The Fine Arts Club organised a Poster Making Competition on 15th November 2025 .The topic “Our Heritage, Our Pride” was given to the students on the spot, encouraging spontaneous creativity and expression.
The event was successfully conducted under the able guidance of our esteemed Principal, Prof. Bina Rai and club advisors- Mrs. Pragati Nigam, Dr. Aparna Pant, and Dr. Himani Maheshwari.
The competition was judged by Prof. Preeti Awasthi and Prof. Supriya Chaturvedi. The participants were judged on content, presentation, confidence and clarity.
