Founded in 1958 as Loreto Degree College, it was taken over by the Avadh Educational Society in 1976 from Loreto Convent. Kamla Bhargava as Manager. BC Sharma became its first Principal. e excellent and dedicated staff, the College steered through the changeover smoothly. Today, it is a leading institution, having imparted value based education to innumerable students for over five decades. The College inculcates and encourages academic and extra academic excellence in its students. Thousands of students have passed through its portals, equipped to successfully take their place in society. दिनांक 20/08/2026 को राजस्थान पत्रिका समूह एवं अवध गर्ल्स डिग्री कॉलेज के राजनीति विज्ञान विभाग तथा पंडित बिरजू महाराज सांस्कृतिक क्लब के संयुक्त तत्वधान में 'स्त्री देह से आगे' विषय विवेचन कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया।
कार्यक्रम का शुभारम्भ दीप प्रज्वलन के साथ हुआ। तत्पश्चात महाविद्यालय की प्राचार्या प्रो. बीना राय द्वारा स्वागत उद्बोधन प्रस्तुत किया गया। इस अवसर पर प्रो. बीना राय ने राजस्थान पत्रिका समूह के प्रधान संपादक डॉ. गुलाब कोठारी जी को तुलसी का पौधा एवं अंगवस्त्र भेंट कर स्वागत एवं सम्मान किया।

अपने विचार व्यक्त करते हुए डॉ. गुलाब कोठारी ने कहा कि वर्तमान शिक्षा व्यवस्था में ज्ञान को प्रकृति-संवेदना एवं व्यक्तित्व निर्माण से अलग किया जा रहा है। शिक्षा का उद्देश्य केवल करियर निर्माण और जीविकोपार्जन तक सीमित नहीं होना चाहिए, बल्कि विद्यार्थियों में मनुष्य, प्रकृति तथा उसके भीतर निहित भावनाओं को समझने की क्षमता का विकास भी होना चाहिए। उन्होंने स्त्री के स्वरूप, मातृत्व, परिवार, विवाह तथा शिक्षा व्यवस्था के बदलते उद्देश्यों से जुड़े विभिन्न पक्षों पर विस्तारपूर्वक अपने विचार रखे।

कार्यक्रम ने स्त्री के व्यापक सामाजिक, पारिवारिक एवं मानवीय स्वरूप को समझने तथा शिक्षा के वास्तविक उद्देश्यों पर विचार करने का अवसर प्रदान किया। उपस्थित शिक्षकगण एवं विद्यार्थियों ने कार्यक्रम में सक्रिय सहभागिता की।

कार्यक्रम के अंत में प्रो. प्रीति अवस्थी द्वारा औपचारिक धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया गया। यह कार्यक्रम प्रो. बीना राय, प्रो. प्रीति अवस्थी, डॉ. प्रगति निगम एवं सुश्री श्रेया दयाल के कुशल मार्गदर्शन में राष्ट्रगान के साथ सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न हुआ।

The Department of Commerce, Industry-Academia Integration and Skill Development Cell, and Career Counselling and Placement Cell, in collaboration with CIEL–Franklin Templeton India, organised an Investor Awareness and Financial Literacy Programme, “Change the Soch – Uttar Pradesh Edition,” at Avadh Girls’ Degree College on 31 August 2026. The programme sought to equip students with an understanding of financial literacy, financial independence, investment planning, and responsible financial decision-making.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by Mr. Avinash Satwalekar, President, Franklin Templeton India, address who shared insights into the organisation’s commitment to advancing financial awareness and empowering individuals through informed investment practices. Prof. Bina Rai, Principal, Avadh Girls’ Degree College, who highlighted the growing importance of financial awareness in today’s economic environment. She encouraged students to cultivate prudent financial habits and develop the knowledge and confidence necessary to make informed investment decisions.
• Mr. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, Associate Director and Head – Business Development, Internal Sales and Direct Channel, Franklin Templeton India, provided an informative overview of the securities market and various investment avenues like mutual funds, Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), and Systematic Withdrawal Plans (SWPs). He also provided information on :
• Savings and financial discipline
• Investment awareness
• Responsible financial decision-making
• Building a stronger foundation for financial well-being
The programme was honoured by the presence of Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, MLA, Sarojini Nagar, who emphasised the vital role of financial and digital literacy in the contemporary era. He appreciated the initiative and acknowledged Franklin Templeton’s contribution to promoting informed investment practices.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Mr. Juzer Tambawalla, Director, Sales Enablement, Franklin Templeton India; Ms. Sheeraz Rustamji; and Mr. Nikunj Sharma, Director & Head – Investor Awareness Training, FinX–CIEL and Global Motivational Speaker. The programme was conducted under the able leadership of Prof. Bina Rai, with the active support of Dr. Mansi Shukla, Mrs. Aparna Pant, Dr. Surpreet Sahai, Dr. Aditi Mehrotra, and Ms. Shreya Dayal. The students of *Avadh Girls' Degree College* were invited by the *Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath ji* for the programme *Matrishakti ka Samman* for inaugurating *Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrishakti Yatra Yojana*. The programme was held at *Jupiter Hall, Indira Gandhi Pratishthan* on the *26th of August, 2026* at 10:30 am. The students were taken to Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in a bus provided by the government. The Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath ji addressed the gathering. In his speech, he spoke about women empowerment and mentioned all the schemes that have been introduced for the welfare of women. The students were also given refreshments and gift packets. On August 22, 2026 , filling the atmosphere with creativity, tradition, and the spirit of sibling bond.

The enthusiastic participants brought the college campus to life with vibrant threads, intricate designs, and original concepts celebrating the essence of love, protection, and togetherness. Each participant demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship, color combination, and artistic flair within the given timeframe where colorful beads, threads, and decorative materials mirrored the enduring spirit of Raksha Bandhan in our hearts.

The event was successfully conducted under the able guidance of our respected Principal Prof. Bina Rai, Prof. Preeti Awasthi Head, Dept. Of Political Science, The club advisors, Dr. Pragati Nigam and Ms. Shreya Dayal. The judging panel, comprising Prof. P. Awasthi and Prof. S. Chaturvedi, evaluated the artworks based on theme relevance, originality, neatness, and visual appeal, praising the high level of creativity and festive spirit shown by all participants.

A special lecture on “Challenges and Prospects of Children with Special Needs: Government of Uttar Pradesh’s Plans, Policies and Initiatives” was organised by the Cell for Differently Abled Children and the Indian Knowledge System Multidisciplinary Research Promotion and Teacher Re-skilling Cell, Avadh Girls’ Degree College, Lucknow, on 1 September 2026 in the college auditorium. The keynote speaker, Dr. Kaushal Sharma, was felicitated with flowers and gifts by Sara Moin, a special child, as a gesture of respect and welcome.
Dr. Kaushal Sharma, Associate Professor, Faculty of Special Education, Department of Hearing Impairment, Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow, delivered an insightful and informative lecture. He focused on the legal and policy framework for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) and discussed the key challenges faced by CWSN in Uttar Pradesh. He emphasised the need for a supportive and inclusive environment that ensures dignity, accessibility, equal opportunities and meaningful participation for every child.
The speaker elaborated on the pillars of holistic child empowerment and explained the policy architecture of the Government of Uttar Pradesh for the welfare and development of children with special needs. He also highlighted various priority support schemes for CWSN and discussed the importance of effective implementation of such initiatives.
A significant part of the lecture was devoted to digital empowerment through the SAMARTH initiative, highlighting how technology can enhance accessibility, education and learning opportunities for children with special needs. Dr. Sharma further presented a road map for inclusive education in Uttar Pradesh and spoke about a visionary philosophy of inclusion, stressing that inclusion should go beyond access to education and promote the overall participation, independence and empowerment of children with special needs.
The programme also featured the certificate distribution ceremony for the Poster Making Competition, organised on the theme “Supporting and Empowering Children with Special Needs.” The certificates were distributed by Dr. Kaushal Sharma, encouraging the students for their creative efforts and contribution towards spreading awareness about inclusion and empowerment.
The programme was graced by the presence of Prof. Bina Rai, Principal, Avadh Girls’ Degree College, whose support and encouragement contributed to the successful organisation of the event. Prof. Upma Chaturvedi, Prof. Ranjana Krishna, Dr. Himani Maheshwari and Dr. Surpreet Sahai, members of the respective cells, were also present and actively supported the programme. The event was attended by members of the teaching faculty, staff and a large number of students, who participated with enthusiasm and keen interest.
Overall, the lecture was highly enriching and sensitised the participants towards the rights, needs, challenges and potential of children with special needs. It reinforced the importance of inclusive education, digital empowerment, accessibility and equal opportunities in building a more equitable, compassionate and inclusive society.

The Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Industry Academia Integration and Skill Development Cell, Career Counselling and Placement Cell,Grievance Redressal and Cyber Cell organised an Online Interactive Students’ Session on Investors Awareness Programme in Securities Market on 24th August 2026.

The session was conducted by Mr. Sujit Kumar Mukherjee, Securities Market Trainer, Dhanbad District, Jharkhand.Mr. Mukherjee highlighted the importance of making informed investments to beat inflation and fulfill various financial goals in life. He explained that even small and regular investments can help individuals build financial security over time. In this context, he introduced the concept of Micro SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) and explained how students and young investors can begin investing with small amounts.

The speaker also discussed various investment applications and digital platforms including Groww, YONO by SBI and Zerodha through which investors can access investment and financial services. Mr. Mukherjee introduced students to SEBI’s Saarthi application which provides educational and informative resources related to the securities market and helps investors make more informed decisions.

The session was conducted under the able guidance of our Principal Prof.Bina Rai.The faculty members of the department of Commerce,Industry Academia Integration and Skill Development Cell,Career Counselling and Placement Cell,Grievance Redressal and Cyber Cell facilitated the smooth ex*****on of the programme.The session concluded with an emphasis on the importance of financial literacy, disciplined investment, awareness of market risks and responsible use of digital financial platforms.
