The Department of Commerce, Industry-Academia Integration and Skill Development Cell, and Career Counselling and Placement Cell, in collaboration with CIEL–Franklin Templeton India, organised an Investor Awareness and Financial Literacy Programme, “Change the Soch – Uttar Pradesh Edition,” at Avadh Girls’ Degree College on 31 August 2026. The programme sought to equip students with an understanding of financial literacy, financial independence, investment planning, and responsible financial decision-making.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by Mr. Avinash Satwalekar, President, Franklin Templeton India, address who shared insights into the organisation’s commitment to advancing financial awareness and empowering individuals through informed investment practices. Prof. Bina Rai, Principal, Avadh Girls’ Degree College, who highlighted the growing importance of financial awareness in today’s economic environment. She encouraged students to cultivate prudent financial habits and develop the knowledge and confidence necessary to make informed investment decisions.
• Mr. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, Associate Director and Head – Business Development, Internal Sales and Direct Channel, Franklin Templeton India, provided an informative overview of the securities market and various investment avenues like mutual funds, Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), and Systematic Withdrawal Plans (SWPs). He also provided information on :
• Savings and financial discipline
• Investment awareness
• Responsible financial decision-making
• Building a stronger foundation for financial well-being
The programme was honoured by the presence of Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, MLA, Sarojini Nagar, who emphasised the vital role of financial and digital literacy in the contemporary era. He appreciated the initiative and acknowledged Franklin Templeton’s contribution to promoting informed investment practices.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Mr. Juzer Tambawalla, Director, Sales Enablement, Franklin Templeton India; Ms. Sheeraz Rustamji; and Mr. Nikunj Sharma, Director & Head – Investor Awareness Training, FinX–CIEL and Global Motivational Speaker. The programme was conducted under the able leadership of Prof. Bina Rai, with the active support of Dr. Mansi Shukla, Mrs. Aparna Pant, Dr. Surpreet Sahai, Dr. Aditi Mehrotra, and Ms. Shreya Dayal. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 120 attendees, comprising faculty members, students, and support staff.
The programme provided students with valuable insights into financial planning and investment opportunities, reinforcing the understanding that financial empowerment begins with financial awareness. It encouraged students to become informed, confident, independent, and responsible financial decision-makers
