Government J. Buana College’s website has been adjudged second among all government educational institution websites in Mizoram.

The ‘Government Online Excellence Awards, 2025’ were held on 6 May 2026 at the Taxation Auditorium, MINECO. The annual awards are presented by the Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Department, Government of Mizoram. The Hon’ble ICT Minister, Dr. Vanlalthlana, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Government J. Buana College secured Second Position in the Educational Institution Website category.

For the awards, a Selection Committee and a Technical Evaluation Committee were constituted, comprising an ICT technical expert along with representatives from Mizoram University (MZU), the National Informatics Centre (NIC), and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). A total of 160 websites were evaluated under the Official Departmental Website category, while 50 websites were assessed in the Educational Institution Website category.

THREE-DAY WORKSHOP ON FINANCIAL LITERACY AT GOVERNMENT J. BUANA COLLEGE, LUNGLEI (25–27 MARCH 2026)
A three-day workshop on Financial Literacy was held from 25–27 March 2026 at Govt. J. Buana College, Lunglei, organised by the Research and Intellectual Property Rights Cell and Department of Commerce in association with IQAC, GJBC and SEBI-SMART.

The resource person was Mr Samuela Lalthanliana, Assistant Professor, Govt. Hrangbana College. The first two days were conducted online via Zoom and chaired by Dr Lalnunpuia Sailo, focusing on the “Six Pillars of Financial Literacy” and basic concepts of managing personal finance.

The final day was held offline at the college Multipurpose Hall and was chaired by Dr Lalzarzoa. A welcome address was delivered by Mrs Lalthangmawii Chhangte, Principal of the college. The sessions on the final day covered the topics “Pillars of Investment and Financial Markets (Dos and Don’ts)” and “Securities Market: Understanding from an Investor’s Perspective”, along with practical insights into risks and decision-making. The programme concluded with a memento presentation by Dr Vanlalhlani Ralte, Head of the Department of Education.

The workshop was convened by Lalsangpuii, with Dr Lalzarzoa and Dr Lalnunpuia Sailo as Organising Secretaries, along with members R. Lalchampuii, V. Rohlupuia and Baby Vanlalpeki.

Government J. Buana College celebrated Chapchar K*t on 12 March 2026 at the College Grounds. The festival traditionally marks the Mizo spring celebration following the completion of jungle clearing for cultivation.

On the occasion, members of the college community came dressed in colourful Mizo traditional attire. The programme began with cultural performances by the Leitlang Dingdi Cultural Club, who presented a series of traditional Mizo dances. The celebration then continued with a lively Chai dance in which all the students danced in unison.

As the college tradition, the K*t Nula and K*t Tlangval were also selected from among the students. Lalremfeli, 6th Semester, Department of English, and R. Lalruattluanga, 4th Semester, Department of Mizo, were chosen for the titles. They were each awarded a cash prize of ₹1,000 along with a certificate.

The celebration concluded on a joyful note, with the college community coming together to honour and promote Mizo culture and traditions through music, dance, and collective participation.

Akashvani Lunglei in collaboration with Government J. Buana College presents: Memorial & Motivational Lecture cm Concert for Youths.

Dr. Krista Roluahpuia, Assistant Professor, IIT, Gandhinagar will be delivering the theme lecture: “Thalaite tana hmathlir: Chhim Thalaite tho ang u.”

The programme will also feature various famous artistes and bands such as The Cassettes, Lalenkawli Pautu, Jessica Lalhmangaihtluangi, Isabel Lalnunpuii.

The Youth Adventure Club, NSS and Yuva Tourism Club, Government J. Buana College are organising a White Water Rafting Expedition on 10-14 March 2026. The expedition is funded by the Directorate of Tourism, Government of Mizoram, and will be held at the Chhimtuipui (Kolodyne) River.

The participants will be undertaking a training course on white water rafting under the supervision of an instructor provided by the District Sports & Youth Services Officer, Lunglei.

The District Level Youth Viksit Bharat Parliament 2026 will be held at the Multipurpose Hall, Government J. Buana College on 10 March 2026. Youths from across the district will compete in the Speech Competition. Five winners will then be selected to represent Lunglei District at State Level Youth Parliament at Aizawl.

Pu Lalzuithanga, Chairman, Lunglei Municipal Council, will be the Chief Guest of the competition.

The event is jointly organised by the MY Bharat, Lunglei, Mizoram, and the IQAC, Department of Political Science, and Department of Public Administration, Government J. Buana College.
