The Central Library, Majuli University of Culture successfully conducted a webinar on 6th January, 2026 o the topic "Enhancing Research Visibility and Use of ORCID" in collaboration with the Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Himachal Pradesh which was supported by ORCID GPF. The event was inaugurated with an inaugural address by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Nirode Boruah followed by a detailed lecture by Prof. Shivarama Rao K, ORCID Project Director and Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Central University of Himachal Pradesh describing the details about the ORCID Project. The resource person of the webinar Dr. Deepjyoti Kalita, Assistant Professor & Head i/c, Department of Library and Information Science, Cotton University delivered an extensive and detailed lecture with demonstrations on the use of ORCID and other persistent research identifiers for significant enhancement of
research visibility, credibility, long-term accessibility of scholarly output. The resource person also focused on how ORCID and other persistent research identifiers are helpful in overcoming the major challenges like author name ambiguity, variations in name formats, and changes in institutional affiliations faced by the academic community, which often result in fragmented research identities and improper attribution of scholarly work. The event witnessed active participation of a total of 58 Academicians, Librarians and Research Scholars of different Universities, colleges and other institutions across India.
