A group of scholarship students from the first graduating batch of Manipal TATA Medical College, Jamshedpur (MTMC), Jamshedpur walked up to Vice Chancellor Dr Sharath K Rao, not for a formal interaction, but simply to say “thank you.”

What followed was a heartfelt and candid conversation filled with stories of resilience, gratitude, and dreams fulfilled. Many of the students shared how they were the first doctors in their families and how scholarships had made their journey into medicine possible. They also spoke about the unwavering support they received from faculty members, who became mentors and guides throughout their journey as the pioneer batch of MTMC.

For Vice Chancellor Dr Sharath Rao, witnessing the graduation of MTMC’s very first batch and listening to these deeply personal journeys was a proud and emotional moment — one that reflected the true impact of education when opportunity, mentorship, and compassion come together.

As the first private-private partnership between MAHE and Tata Steel, MTMC stands as a powerful example of how industry and academia can come together to create meaningful impact through accessible and inclusive medical education.

Moments like these continue to reflect MAHE’s vision of empowering deserving students to pursue their dreams, irrespective of financial barriers.
