International Women’s Day celebrated every year on 8th March is a significance of social , economic ,cultural and political accomplishment of women. Sachdeva Girls College, Gharuan ,Mohali organized an event on 8th March, 2021 which carried cultural activities , motivational lecture to boost the confidence of female students and faculty members.
SDM , Kharar, Mr. Himanshu Jain (I.A.S.) was the Chief Guest of the event.
Dr.Shashi P. Negi, Prinicpal, SGC, Gharuan honoured the Chief Guest with a floral welcome.
Mr.Himanshu Jain (IAS) spoke about women empowerement and he expressed his wish to get rid of vicious social custom of dowry stystem responsible for killing of girl child. He accented the importance of this day by saying that the celebration is being done only because no other species possess such plethora of attributes. History has written the efforts of woman in golden words. Whether in domestic field or in various other professional fields, women achieve pinnacle everywhere. He also told about women’s rights in every aspects of life and protested day-to-day crime committed against women. He emphasised that in order to empower women in a country like India, the government should make different policies and implement those. He also advised the girl students to be career conscious and economically independent. He quoted “Being a woman is the best way of being in the world.”
On this occasion, there were various events of celebrations and deliberations performed by the students of the college. Students, too, shared their views on woman empowerment and ongoing scenarios. A cultural show was carried out which emphasised the role of women in the society.

Dr.Shashi P.Negi gave a vote of thanks. She said that women’s day is to celebrate the achievements of women in various fields and also to express our respect, appreciation & love towards the most powerful gender. She said that females are getting better in every field as compared to males. We can see them flying high in sky and achive every greatness they can. With thriving persistence and hardwork females today have become the best versions of themselves. She emphasised that girl students of today can play a dominant role in the society and also illustrated the achievements of Sarojini Naidu, Kalpana Chawla and Mary Kom.

" Basant Panchmi” is an occasion which marks the advent of the spring season and is also celebrated to worship Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom. This day was celebrated in our college with great fervour and enthusiasm. The students enjoyed the day, enlightened by the blessings of Maa Saraswati.
The College was decorated with yellow rangoli and kites. Staff and Students wore yellow cloth and Yellow ladoos were distributed among all present. The students showcased the vibrant tradition of Punjab depicting the spirit of inner freedom, creative pride and zest for life.
Dr.shashi P Negi, Principal,SGC presided over the function.She explained the importance of Basant Panchami to the students.
Dr.Shashi P Negi motivated the students to be progressive learners, setting big goals and putting dedicated efforts as a promising & flourishing human harvest.

A One day workshop on “Student engagement in classes and their development ” was organized in Sachdeva girls campus on Saturday 13th Feb 2021.Dr.Satinder Dhillon former Principal Dev Samaj College Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of Workshop. Dr. Maninder Kaur Saini from J. S. S. College of Education, Patiala chaired as Resource Person for the session.
A warm welcome was given to Chief Guest Dr. Satinder Dhillon by Dr.Shashi P. Negi, Principal ,SGC,Gharuan.
Dr. Satinder Shilling took an interactive session related to developing innovative methods to engage students in classes .She advised to emotionally involve the students by welcoming them with a smile on the face. She expected everyone to have a social touch and donate organs for self actualization .She discussed that education pattern has changed from previous times and require self motivation on teachers part to engage students.
Resource person Dr. Maninder kaur Saini deliberated on effective utilization of blended methods which involve both online and offline teaching methodology .She emphasized on coginitive domain , affective domain and physhcomotor skills of teaching. She considered teacher as a facilitator. She focused on the use of flipped classroom culture where students will first engage in online learning of a topic and then they will practice the same in classroom in the form of an activity.
Mr. A. K. Kaushal,Director, IPS school Kurali, Mr. Mukhbain Singh, Principal, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Kalemajra, Ms. Kamaljeet Kaur Principal, Arya Girls School, Morinda and other faculty from various schools, discussed collaboratively on objectives and methodologies to enhance student engagement in classes.
There was interaction between the participants and resource person discussing issues like pre operational stage , concrete stage, formal stage, inclusive education ,NCE-2020 and effect of social media etc. A lot of positive aspects were discussed and many new things regarding education were explored in the session .
Participants were facilitated by certificate and momentos.
MS. Baljeet Monga, Managing Director, Sachdeva Girls Campus ,graced the occasion by her presence.
Dr. Shahshi P Negi appreciated everyone and all for participanting in the effective session.
