How do you tackle a challenge as massive as human trafficking?

For Aaboo Varghese, Founder and Director of Purnata, it started with a shift in perspective. His journey from a life coach to the Founder of Purnata is a masterclass in purpose-driven leadership.

In our latest blog, Aaboo shares how his time in PGPDM at SPJIMR helped him transition from technical management to a human-centric approach to fight human trafficking.

Key takeaways from the blog:
☑️Why leadership is about sitting with ambiguity, not having all the answers
☑️How failure can become a tool for resilience and growth
☑️Why judgement matters more than credentials in the social sector

When the pressure is real, theory steps aside—and mindset takes over

SPJIMR recently turned into a live locker room of ideas as Brut India brought its series ‘Damn the Odds’ to campus, featuring Indian cricketer Pratika Rawal in conversation with PGPM participants.

This wasn’t a highlight reel of achievements. It was an unfiltered look at what it takes to perform when the stakes are high—handling setbacks, staying composed under pressure, and focusing on what truly matters.

From mental toughness to discipline, the conversation drew clear parallels between sport and leadership:
☑️Showing up when it’s hardest
☑️Staying focused on controllables
☑️Building resilience through setbacks

What stood out was the exchange—questions, reflections, and moments that connected the pitch to real-world decision-making.
Because whether on the field or in the boardroom, pressure doesn’t define you—how you respond to it does.

Are you measuring training impact—or truly understanding it?

Organisations invest heavily in learning, yet the real question persists: did it actually change anything? This piece by SPJIMR draws a critical distinction between measuring ROI and observing it—highlighting why numbers alone rarely tell the full story.

While measurable ROI captures immediate, quantifiable gains like productivity or efficiency, the deeper impact often lies in what’s less visible: shifts in judgement, collaboration, ownership, and mindset. Because ultimately, measurable ROI tells you what changed. Observable ROI reveals how and why that change sustains.

For organisations looking to build lasting capability—not just short-term outcomes—this distinction is not optional, it’s essential.

Deadline Extended — One Last Time
You asked. We listened.

The Expression of Interest (EoI) deadline for Case School 2026 at SPJIMR is now extended to April 30, 2026.

Here’s the fine print (and it matters): This is the first and final extension. No repeats. No exceptions.

With just 30 seats and strong demand, entries are being reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. If this has been sitting on your ‘maybe’ list—this is your final nudge:
☑️Work closely with real entrepreneurs
☑️Build a full case + Teaching Note
☑️Learn in a 5-day immersive, residential format
☑️Don’t overthink it. Secure your spot.

Submit your EoI: https://forms.gle/t3UAck7xfJ3pKny49

Let’s build cases that come from the field, not just the classroom.

SPJIMR marked its 45th Foundation Day with an evening that reflected on its journey while reaffirming the values that continue to guide it.

The celebration brought the community together for thoughtful moments, including the MLS Memorial Speech by N. Ravichandran, former Director of Indian Institute of Management Indore, who spoke on nurturing management education institutions and the responsibility they hold in shaping future leaders.

A special segment recognised long-serving members of the institution, acknowledging those whose commitment and contributions have helped build SPJIMR over the decades.

The evening concluded on a cultural note with the live Hindi musical play ‘Bansuri Jab Gaane Lage’, presented by Eastern Harmony and led by Rajeev Chaurasia. The performance offered a moving portrayal of the life and legacy of Padma Vibhushan Hariprasad Chaurasia, bringing together music, storytelling, and tradition.

A celebration of milestones, people, and purpose, and a reminder that while the past continues to inspire, the future calls for even greater purpose and responsibility.
