JSS College of Nursing, JSS Hospital and JSS School of Nursing. Mysuru, under the aegis of JSS Mahavidyapeetha and in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) & SNA, organized the “International Nurses Day and Nasha Muktha Mysuru Marathon” on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at 6.00 a.m. from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, Mysuru Palace premises.

The programme was conducted to commemorate International Nurses Day and to create awareness among the public & Youths about the importance of a drug-free society under the theme “Nasha Muktha Mysuru.” The event highlighted the invaluable contribution of nurses to society and promoted healthy living through public participation in the marathon.

Sri Mallikarjun Baladandi, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, Mysuru, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of youth participation in social awareness movements against substance abuse. During the inaugural address, the chief guest emphasized the growing concern of drug addiction among youth and appreciated the efforts of JSS College of Nursing and NSS & SNA Unit in creating awareness through such social initiatives.

Dr. Brinda Suhas Godhi, Associate Professor, JSS Dental College & Hospital and an avid cyclist, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour and encouraged participants to adopt fitness-oriented lifestyles.

Students, faculty members, nursing professionals, NSS volunteers, and members of the public enthusiastically participated in the marathon and awareness activities.

The organizers reiterated the message, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”

The event concluded successfully with active participation and public support, reinforcing the commitment towards healthcare awareness and a drug-free Mysuru.

JSS College of Nursing,JSS Hospital and JSS School of Nursing, Mysuru,jointly celebrated International Nurses Day – 2026 at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, JSS Hospital, Mysuru, on Tuesday, 12th May 2026.
The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri Nitesh Patil, Regional Commissioner for the Mysuru Division.
Dr. C G Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS MVP, Presided over the event and delivered the Presidential address.
The event was graced by Shri Mahesh R, Director Medical Education Division, JSS MVP and Dr.C P Madhu , Director , JSS Hospital, Mysuru as Guest of Honour .
The other guests present during the occasion were Smt. Janet Mathias , Chief Nursing Services , JSS Hospital , Smt. Ashwati Devi MK , Principal , JSS College of Nursing , Smt. Renuka Devi , Principal , JSS School of Nursing.
Mrs. Sudha Mruthyunjayappa, Chief Trustee of Dr C N Mruthyunjayappa Trust was the Special invitee for the event. Dr. C. N. Mruthyunjayappa Trust honoured the selected Nurses with certificate and cash. On the occasion 06 Nurses from JSS Hospital, Mysuru were honoured with the R & R award (Rewards & Recognition award) for the year 2025 for their contribution to patient care.
Nursing Staffs Honoured were Staff Nurse Mrs. Manjula BN( NICU), Mrs.Kusuma PV( SICU), Mrs.Ivy Kurian ( OT),Mrs.Nagalambika ( Geriatric Ward), Mrs.Jhansi KP (Pvt ward) ,Mr. Shivakumar M ( PMR Center).

The celebration highlighted the dedication, compassion and selfless service rendered by nursing professionals to society.

JSS College of Nursing, Mysuru,the Department of Medical Surgical Nursing in collaboration with the Department of Orthopaedics, successfully organised the State-Level Workshop on “Ortho Care: From Injury to Recovery” on 28 April 2026 at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, JSS Hospital. The workshop focused on enhancing knowledge and clinical competencies in comprehensive orthopedic care.

The inaugural programme was graced by Dr. Madhu C P, Director, JSS Hospital & Medical College, Mysuru, as Chief Guest; Dr. Vijay C, Professor & HOD, Department of Orthopaedics and Dr.Siddalingamurthy, Professor & unit chief,Dept of orthopedics as Guest of Honor; and was presided over by Prof. Aswathy Devi M.K, Principal, JSS College of Nursing.
The workshop included expert sessions by Dr.Gurumurthy, Dr.Jayashree, Dr.Sujanatheja, Dr.Shreyash, Dr. Shashi Kumar, Dr.Hoysala, Dr.Santhosh, Dr.Sathish, Dr.Vijayakumar, Dr.Saran, Dr.Pramod Dept.of Orthopedics on trauma management, fracture care, and rehabilitation, Spinal deformities orthopedic replacement surgeries with active participation from students and healthcare professionals.
The programme concluded successfully, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to quality nursing education and patient care.
