On 30th April 2023 “IGNITE- Light the Fire Within” was organized by Inner Wheel Club of Gangtok in the premise of Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School, Gangtok. “IGNITE” is an annual inter-college scholastic festival where students from different educational institutions (both government and private) of Sikkim compete with one other in several different events. This year, according to the organizer there were twenty-two educational institutions and two hundred seventy-five students that took part in the various events. Sikkim Alpine University was one of the participating institutions among them all. Eleven students participated in the event accompanied by four faculty members: Ms. Prashanti Pradhan, Dr. Nirmal Niroula, Dr. Aita Rani S***a and Dr. Sachin Limbu. The students competed in several events like Quiz, Extempore, Antakshaari, Treasure Hunt, Poetry Recitation, Mad Ad Fun and Creative Writing. Mr. Aman Pradhan (Dept. of Management) and Ms. Sancha Maya Rai (Dept. of Zoology) secured third position in the Antakshaari competition and Mr. Rohit Rai (Dept. of Botany) and Ms. Kamala Rai (Dept. of Zoology) secured third position in Quiz competition. Amongst twenty-two institutions Sikkim Alpine University won the 2nd Runner-up trophy among the overall performances. The Deputy Mayor of Gangtok Municipal Corporation, Tshering Palden, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event provided an opportunity for different institutions to showcase their talent, interact with one another and created a sense of unity.
