Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni, Solan and Bayer Crop Science India today signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a Bayer Learning Centre (BLC) at the University campus.

The MoU was signed between Vice Chancellor Dr. H.S. Baweja and Dr Mohan Babu Rajaram, Cluster Commercial Lead — India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka, Bayer CropScience.

The partnership aims to promote experiential learning and strengthen collaboration between academia and industry through the demonstration of advanced agricultural technologies, sustainable farming practices, and capacity-building initiatives. The Bayer Learning Centre will serve as a platform for hands-on training, field demonstrations, student skill development, exposure visits, and knowledge dissemination in the areas of horticulture and crop science.
The initiative is expected to create valuable opportunities for students through internships, practical learning experiences, and exposure to modern agricultural innovations.

🐝 Celebrating World Bee Day at the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Thunag 🐝

On the occasion of World Bee Day, a Poster Exhibition and Declamation Competition was organized at the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Thunag at Gohar (Gudhari), District Mandi .

Students enthusiastically participated in the programme and shared their thoughts on the importance of bees, their crucial role in pollination, and the urgent need for bee conservation to maintain ecological balance and biodiversity.

Dr. Manju Devi, Assistant Professor of Entomology and Programme Coordinator, addressed the students and highlighted the vital contribution of bees not only in honey production but also in enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring food security. She encouraged students to take small yet meaningful initiatives towards bee conservation for building a sustainable and healthy environment.

Vice Chancellor Dr. HS Baweja held a meeting with the faculty members of the Department of Seed Science and Technology and the Department of Agri Business Management. During the meeting, discussions were held on ongoing academic, research and extension activities, future plans, and strengthening industry-oriented programmes for the benefit of students and the farming community.

🌿 Proud Moment for UHF Nauni 🌿

The AICRP on Agroforestry, Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry, Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni has been honoured with the prestigious Dr. S. Chinnamani Award for Excellence in Agroforestry Extension–2025 during the National Agroforestry Day celebrations at Jhansi.

🏆 Among 37 AICRP Agroforestry centres across India, the UHF Nauni centre earned national recognition for its impactful extension activities and farmer-centric outreach programmes promoting climate-resilient agroforestry practices in Himachal Pradesh.

🌱 Over the past five years:
✔️ 40 extension programmes organised
✔️ 3,379 farmers trained
✔️ Special focus on women, SC/ST beneficiaries and sustainable agroforestry practices

The award was received by Dr. Rohit Bishist, HOD, Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry, from Dr. A.K. Nayak, DDG (NRM).

🌿 New Leadership Roles at UHF Nauni 🌿

Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni has appointed new Joint Directors in the Directorate of Extension Education and Directorate of Research.

👩‍🔬 Dr. Parminder Kaur Baweja has been appointed as Joint Director (Training & Communication), Directorate of Extension Education.

🌲 Senior Scientist Dr. Pradeep Kumar has been appointed as Joint Director Research (Forestry), Directorate of Research.

The university congratulates both scientists on their new responsibilities and wishes them success in their future endeavours.

🌿 Dr. DP Sharma has taken over as Director Extension Education and is also serving as Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri. An expert in orchard management, Dr. Sharma has made remarkable contributions in horticulture research, biodiversity conservation, and apple production management.

🌸 Dr. BS Dilta has assumed charge as Professor and Head, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Dilta is widely recognized for his contributions in floriculture research, flower breeding, tissue culture, and crop improvement.
