🌴 Coconut Plantation | World Coconut Day 2026 🌱
As part of the World Coconut Day celebrations, a coconut plantation programme was organized at the Centre of Excellence, Chanvai, Valsad.
The plantation was inaugurated by Dr. R. M. Naik, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Navsari Agricultural University, followed by plantation by Dr. Hemant Sharma, Director of Extension Education; Prof. Jaimin Naik, Director Students’ Welfare; Dr. Alka Singh, Dean of Horticulture; Dr. Pankaj, Head, PSMA; and Dr. Chirag Desai, PI, AICRP, Mr. Brijesh Patel, along with other faculty members and officials.
The plantation symbolized a shared commitment towards promoting coconut cultivation, sustainable horticulture and resilient farming systems.

🌴 World Coconut Day 2026 | Zonal Seminar at Chanvai, Valsad 🌴
World Coconut Day 2026 was celebrated on 2 September at the Centre of Excellence, Chanvai, Valsad, with a one-day zonal seminar on the theme “Coconut in Times of Uncertainty: Securing Food, Energy and Livelihoods.”
The inaugural function was presided over by Dr. R. M. Naik, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, NAU, who commemorated the occasion by planting a coconut sapling. His inspiring address emphasized resilience, innovation and sustainable livelihoods for farmers.
The programme was graced by Dr. H. R. Shara, Prof. Jaimin Naik, Director Students’ Welfare, Dr. Alka Singh, Dean of Horticulture, Mr. Kumarvel S., DDH, Coconut Development Board, Mr. D. K. Padaliya, JDH, and Mr. N. N. Patel, DDH, Valsad. Their motivational words encouraged the farming community to explore improved technologies, value addition and emerging opportunities in coconut cultivation.
The event was organized by the Coconut Development Board in association with ASPEE College of Horticulture, Navsari Agricultural University (NAU) and the Government of Gujarat. More than 300 farmers from South Gujarat participated and benefited from expert sessions on coconut cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest management and value-added product processing.
The programme concluded with an interactive farmer–scientist session, providing an opportunity for farmers to discuss field-level challenges and seek practical solutions for enhancing productivity and profitability. Dr. Pankaj Bhalerao, Dr. Chirag Desai and Mr. Brijesh Patel put in a lot of effort to make the program a success.

Dr. Alka Singh, Principal & Dean, ASPEE College of Horticulture, Navsari Agricultural University, visited the Vegetable Research Farm on 14/8/2026.
The faculty members of the Department of Vegetable Science, including Head of the Department Dr. D. R. Bhanderi, were present and showcased their ongoing research experiments and various activities. The faculty members discussed the progress, research work, and other activities being carried out at the farm.
Madam appreciated the efforts and activities of the department and encouraged the faculty members for continued excellence in research, teaching, and extension activities.

Har Ghar Tiranga Rally 2026 | 13 August 2026 🇮🇳
ASPEE College of Horticulture, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, proudly joined the “Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026” with a vibrant Tiranga Rally organized on 13 August 2026.
Dr. Alka Singh, Principal & Dean, ASPEE College of Horticulture, warmly welcomed Prof. Jaimin R. Naik, Director of Students Welfare, NAU, Navsari, who graced the occasion with his presence. In his motivational address, Prof. Jaimin Naik inspired the students and staff to uphold the honour of the National Flag, strengthen the spirit of patriotism, and actively contribute towards building a united, responsible and proud nation.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, faculty members and staff, with the Tricolour held high and the campus resonating with the spirit of patriotism and national pride. Heads of Departments and faculty members also joined the rally with great enthusiasm. The program was coordinated by Dr Ashok Senapati, HoD, PHT department and NSS officer.
The rally aimed to foster patriotism, national unity and a deep sense of pride in the Tiranga, while encouraging students and citizens to actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and carry the spirit of the National Flag into every home and heart.
Students as NSS volunteers and faculty members participated enthusiastically in the rally, making it a memorable celebration of our national spirit.
