PMS College of Dental Science & Research, setup at Thiruvanathapuram is the brain child of NRI services and educational trust established in the year 2002. It is the premier Dental College in Kerala, named after the great visionary LATE SRI. The College is a venture with a cause-of enhancing the state's self-reliance in the field of quality education in Dental Medicine and surgery. The total area
of the college is around 2 lakhs sq.ft situated in 12 acres of land at Vattappara, well connected by road, rail and air. The institution, recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and is affiliated to University of Kerala and Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS). We take pride in saying that the institution was the first to achieve the ISO 9001-2000 certification award among the Dental institutions in India and one and only Dental College in Kerala with NAAC accreditation. On the anvil is a full-fledged Dental College that meets the standards of the most prestigious institutions in and outside India in terms of facilities and faculties. PMS College of Dental Science & Research started with 40 admissions for BDS Course and the number of BDS intake has increased to 100 in the year 2011. Dr.P.S Thaha, the Managing Director of Taha Medical Group, Abu Dhabi, is the Chairman of PMS College of Dental Science and Research, Trivandrum and also the Managing director of Super Specialty Dental Centre, Trivandrum. He was a former Asst. Prof. of Government Dental College Trivandrum and also the Member of Dental Council of India. He was a member of Norka roots, Govt. of Kerala. Recently he received the first Denta Sreshta Award instituted by Kerala Dental Council and Indian Dental Association for his contribution in the field of Dentistry. Under the able guidance of the Chairman Dr.P.S.Thaha, the management takes initiative in general administration, with the assistance of firm, fair & trained professionals. Several committees formed under the principal ultimately reporting to the chairman, involving the heads of the departments and staff members, takes care of the academic matters of the institution. The College has 9 full-fledged Dental Departments offering MDS training in eight specialties. The college also has well equipped in house medical departments. The College has total of 109 teaching staff out of which eighty are dental faculty. The college has well equipped lecture classes with facility for PPT, animations, film projection, live surgery telecast, Chair side teaching & participative learning. To enrich practical knowledge the college has tie ups with reputed institutions like RCC, KIMS, SUT etc. A Diploma Course in Advanced Laser Dentistry which is affiliated to foreign University, University of Genova is conducting by the College. PMS College of Dental Science has a scientific committee, headed by Principal and an institutional ethical committee headed by an external expert, formulated according to the rules and regulations of ICMR. The college has an ongoing DBT project partially financed by College. The PMS College of Dental Science Research has a license for conducting clinical trials from Drug Control & published by PMS licensing authority, Govt. of India. The research mouth piece of the college is the Journal of Maxillofacial Science & Research [JMFSR] (ISSN: NO: 2348-9030).
