Jamia Students will Continue the Fight against Admission Scam
From 24th August, 2026, the Jamia students have been raising their voice against the admission scam and irregularities. Various cases and instances of students denied admission even after having higher rank than the selected ranks during the spot round, are available infront of us which clearly shows that admission scam took place. To cover up this, they also tried to give admission to those who were denied admission, whose cases were getting highlighted. This scam raises questions about the alarming situation in Jamia Millia Islamia, where the whole admission process has become corrupt and opaque. Also, the J&K resident reservations were violated in Faculties of Fine Arts and Architecture. The sit-in protest that began on 24th August, was brutally crushed and the 4 students were arbitrarily suspended and campus banned. Thus, on 1st September, 2026, the students of JMI, under the leadership of the student organizations of JMI marched to the DSW Office. During the protest, DSW didn't agree to meeting the students. After the protest was dispersed, the DSW spontaneously called some of the organisations (while two-three organizations were not present) for delegation. The following demands, which were already put forward in front of DSW (on 25th August, 2026) were reiterated infront of her:
1) Resignation of Controller of Examination
2) Spot admission registration shall be held online and the higher rank students should be preferred over the lower rank students. At the same time, there should be at least three or four rounds of admission before going for the spot admission process.
3) Publish the pre-interview and post-interview marks and cut-offs in courses with interviews, such as BA LLB(H), MBA etc.
4) Fill all the reserved seats for J&K Residents, Kashmiri Migrants and PwD students in all courses where it applies.
5) Ensure admission for those students who could not appear either for PGDCA or MCA (AI & ML) due to the clash of entrance dates.
6) Ensure a complete transparent admission process by publication of final marks in course and hostel admissions.
