Oscar nominated film director Rima Das today asked the students to give their best to achieve their desired goals in life. Das made this observation while taking part in the Golden Jubilee Lecture Series of Lakhimpur Commerce College in North Lakhimpur today.
The internationally acclaimed film maker of critically acclaimed movies like Village Rockstar and Bulbul Can Sing delivered the seventh Golden Jubilee lecture of Lakhimpur Commerce College. A meeting was organized for that accession in the college which was chaired by the Principal Dr. Lohit Hazarika. Rima Das was felicitated by the college, the Alumni Association and Lakhimpur Cine Club in that event.
Delivering her lecture on Cinema: Passion, Inspiration and Celebration, the renowned film maker spoke on a whole lot of issues and matters relating to film making, life and career in that meeting. She shared her experiences in film making and on personal relationships, family, friendship and life. She asked the students to do what they like and to give their best of effort so that no one can reject them. She also participated in an interactive session with the students after the lecture.
The meeting was attended by all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, students and alumni, local public.
Rima Das also interacted with an informal session with the college teachers and office staff of the college.

A martial arts training centre was inaugurated at Lakhimpur Commerce College today. An inaugural ceremony was organized by Physical and Mental Wellness Cell of the college for that occasion inside the campus which was attended by the eminent public, veteran sports persons, teachers and students of the college. Dr. Mukunda Rajbangshi, retired Principal of Lakhimpur Girls College, inaugurated the centre in the presence of Principal Dr. Lohit Hazarika. In his inaugural speech Dr Rajbangshi reminded the students about the importance of physical fitness and martial art technique. Citing the example of the jawans of Indian army at the Galwan skirmishes, he said that the physical strength of the soldiers defended the territorial integrity of the country.
The martial arts training centre in Lakhimpur Commerce College, first of its kind among all the colleges of North Lakhimpur will be run in association with Lakhimpur Muwai Thai Association.
Alumni of the college, Raju Sinhg, who is also a trainer of Muai Thai, also spoke in the inaugural ceremony. The secretary of Lakhimpur District Ameture Muai Thai Association, Rabijeet Rajkumar and trainer Umananda Pathak also attended the inaugural session.
Dr. Lohit Hazarika, Principal of the college informed the students that a three day free training session of the martial arts would start from today. He also said that students from other institutes and general public could also enroll for training at Lakhimpur Commerce College martial art centre.
The inaugural session was also attended by Vice Principal Gopal Kumar Chetry, retired Head Assistant of the college Indra Mani Rajkumar, the coordinator of Physical and Mental Wellness Cell of the college Dr. Rupjyoti Bhattacharjee, members Dr. Harini P. Das, Prof. Bahnisikha Bordoloi, Prof. Tarun Kumari and librarian Runjun Baruah. The entire session was anchored by Prof. Mridushmita Hazarika.

The Lakhimpur District Legal Service Authority today hold two series of discussions with Lakhimpur Commerce College on the issues relating to anti-ragging mechanisms in colleges and on sexual harassment at workplace.

The DLSA-Lakhimpur hold joint meeting with the Anti-Ragging Cell and Anti-Sexual Harassment at Workplace Cell of Lakhimpur Commerce College at the conference hall of the Principal’s office. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Lohit Hazarika Principal of the college and was attended by Vice Principal GK Chetry, Prof. Purabi Dutta Hazarika , Dr. Sikhamoni Borgohain, Dr. Biva Dutta and Prof. Mrinali Pegu of the Anti-Sexual Harassment at Workplace Cell of Lakhimpur Commerce College and Prof. Deep Jaan Gohain and Prasanta Borah of the Anti-Ragging Cell of the college.

The secretary of DLSA-Lakhimpur, Anup Khanal attended the meeting as the resource person. He asked the college authority to ensure a ragging free campus and make the female employees to feel secure from any kind of harassment and inappropriate treatment at their workplace.
The Principal of the college, Dr Lohit Hazarika, while ensuring the requirements as suggested by DLSA-Lakhimpur informed that the college already has an anti-ragging cell as per the directive of the Honourable Supreme Court and an Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell to address the concerned issues.

The DLSA-Lakhimpur was also represented by Sikha Bhuyan, Manoj Saikia, advocate Rim Saikia Deka and others.

The 120th birth anniversary of Roopkonwar Jyoti Parasad Agarwala was observed today in Lakhimpur Commerce College along with rest of the state by recalling his immense contribution to Assamese culture and literature. The observation began with the lightening the lamp before the portrait of the great artist by Dr. Lohit Hazarika , Principal of the college. This was followed by floral tributes by teachers, office staff and the students of the college. Tilok Chandra Deka , Head of the Department of Assamese spoke about the life and works of the Roopkonwar and his adaptation of Assamese folk music to compose some of the greatest inspirational songs for India’s freedom struggle. He also spoke about the historical role played by Jyoti Prasad Agarwala in making the first ever cinema in Assamese Joymoti in 1932. Other speakers also asked the students to imbibe the spirit of nationalism and humanism of the Roopkonwar in their life and works. The entire function was anchored by Dr. Biva Dutta , Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese.

লখিমপুৰ বাণিজ্য মহাবিদ্যালয়ৰ অধ্যক্ষ ড০ লোহিত হাজৰিকাই শুভাৰম্ভ কৰা অনুষ্ঠানৰ বৈঠকৰ উদ্দেশ্য ব্যাখ্যা কৰে অধিবক্তা তথা প্ৰজাপিতা ব্ৰহ্মকুমাৰী ঈশ্বৰীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, উত্তৰ লখিমপুৰৰ সদস্য দ্বীজেন বৰাই। উদ্বোধনী ভাষণত অধ্যক্ষ ড০ হাজৰিকাই কয় যে মহাবিদ্যালয়খনে চলিত বৰ্ষৰ ছেপ্টেম্বৰ মাহত শিখৰত উপনীত হ’বলগীয়া সোণালী জয়ন্তী কাৰ্যসূচী উপলক্ষে বিভিন্ন গুৰুত্বপূৰ্ণ বিষয়ত বক্তৃতাৰ আয়োজন কৰি আহিছে। তেওঁ বহুদিনৰ পৰা নিচামুক্তিৰ বিৰুদ্ধে বিভিন্ন আন্দোলন আৰু ব্যক্তিত্বৰ প্ৰচেষ্টাক পুনৰবাৰ উল্লেখ কৰি কয় যে এখন সমাজৰ ভৱিষ্যত বহু পৰিমাণে নিচাযুক্ত দ্ৰব্যৰ ব্যৱহাৰ আৰু সুৰাপাণৰ ওপৰত নিৰ্ভৰশীল।

বক্তা ড° শচীন পৰাবে, তেওঁৰ বক্তৃতাত মদ্যপান আৰু দ্ৰব্য সেৱনৰ নিচা পৰিহাৰ কৰাৰ উপায় আৰু পদ্ধতিৰ বিষয়ে ব্যাখ্যা কৰে। তেওঁ কাৰ্যসূচীত ছাত্ৰ-ছাত্ৰী আৰু শিক্ষক-শিক্ষয়িত্ৰীৰ সৈতেও মত বিনিময় কৰে। কাৰ্যসূচীত ডাঃ পৰবে উপস্থিত থকা লোকসকলৰ মাজত মদ্যপান আৰু ড্ৰাগছ সেৱনৰ বিৰুদ্ধেও শপত গ্ৰহণ কৰোৱাই । বিভিন্ন মহাবিদ্যালয় আৰু বিদ্যালয়ৰ পৰা কেইবাগৰাকীও ছাত্ৰ-ছাত্ৰী আৰু শিক্ষকে এই অনুষ্ঠানত অংশগ্ৰহণ কৰে। লখিমপুৰ বাণিজ্য মহাবিদ্যালয়ৰ এণ্টি নাৰ্কটিকছ চেলৰ আহ্বায়ক অধ্যাপক দিপুল বৰুৱাই নিচামুক্তকৰণ সন্দৰ্ভত চমু ভাষণ প্ৰদান কৰি শলাগৰ শৰাই জ্ঞাপন কৰে।
The third lecture of on-going Golden Jubilee Lecture Series of Lakhimpur Commerce College was held on June 9. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Sachin Parab of Mumbai on the quitting narcotic substances and drinking habits. The lecture was organized by the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the college in active participation of Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwaria Vishyavidyalaya, North Lakhimpur as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) undertaken by Government of India.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Lohit Hazarika , Principal of Lakhimpur Commerce College. In his inaugural address Principal Dr. Hazarika said that the college had been organizing lectures on various important topics to mark its golden jubilee programme which would culminate in September this year. H reiterated the efforts by various movements and personalities since long and said that the future of a society much depended on the use of narcotic substances and drinking liquor.
The objective of the meeting was delivered by Adv. Dijen Borah, a member of Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwaria Vishyavidyalaya, North Lakhimpur.
Dr. Sachin Parab, in his lecture explained the ways and means of avoiding addiction of drinking and substance abuse. He also interacted with the students and teachers in the programme. Dr. Parab also took an oath against taking drinking and drug abuse amongst the people present in the programme. A number of students and teachers from different colleges and schools participated in the programme. Prof. Dipul Boruah , Convener of Anti Narcotics Cell of Lakhimpur Commerce College delivered a short speech on the de-addiction and delivered a vote of thanks.
