Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University is established by the Government of Jammu and kashmir. The University is located in the Rajouri district of J&K.

The university campus is located at the foothills of the great Himalayan Pir Panjal range in Rajouri, 154 Km from Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu & Kashmir state. BGSBU Stages Grand Finale of Rajouri Football League 2026; GOC (Ace of Spades Division) Attends as Chief Guest

The grand finale of the Rajouri Football League 2026, organised by the Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, BGSBU, concluded at the Football Ground in the campus. The event was conducted under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, reaffirming the commitment towards promoting a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free society through sports.The final match witnessed an electrifying contest between Rajouri Young Football Club, and BGSBU Eagles, where Rajouri Young Football Club emerged victorious by 4–2 to lift the championship trophy. Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, Ali Raza delivered a stellar performance for RFC by scoring three goals, while Adnan Gayas netted two goals for BGSBU Eagles, making the encounter highly competitive and engaging for the spectators. The occasion was graced by Major General Kaushik Mukherjee, GOC, Ace of Spades Division, who attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BGSBU, attended as the Guest of Honour. Faculty members, university officers, students, and sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor congratulated both the teams for displaying exemplary sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive spirit throughout the tournament. He extended special congratulations to the winning team and underscored the importance of sports in fostering discipline, physical fitness, mental well-being, and leadership qualities among youth. Stressing the need for a healthy and focused lifestyle, he highlighted sports as a powerful medium for channelising youthful energy in a positive direction and discouraging social evils, including drug abuse. Interacting with the players and participants, Major General Kaushik Mukherjee appreciated the talent, energy, and determination displayed by the competing teams and encouraged young people to actively participate in sports and physical activities. He also appreciated the efforts of BGSBU in promoting excellence in both academics and sports. The tournament was organised under the leadership of Mr. Rakesh Singh Sambyal, Incharge, Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, and Dr. Naseem Gul, President Football Club, under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan. The final match was organised under the supervision of Dr. Aasim Mir, as Incharge, Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, BGSBU. The overall programme was conducted through the active support of Amit Nagar (Sports Office), while the proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, who efficiently coordinated the programme.

The students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University delivered an impressive performance in the Peer Panjal Chess Championship organized by Government Medical College Rajouri under the banner of Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan. A total of 166 participants competed in the championship, while six students represented BGSBU in the event.

Adding pride to the university, one BGSBU student secured 3rd position and two students finished among the top ten performers in the championship.

BGSBU Organises Awareness Programme on Self-Enumeration for Census 2027

Rajouri, 18 May 2026:
An Awareness Programme on Self-Enumeration for Census 2027 was successfully organized at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri to educate faculty members and students about the importance, procedure and benefits of self-enumeration in the upcoming national census exercise.

The programme was graced by Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, who in his address underlined that the census forms the backbone of evidence-based governance, inclusive development and effective policy planning. He emphasized that universities play a vital role in spreading awareness and digital literacy, and urged students to become ambassadors of the self-enumeration initiative by guiding their families and communities in adopting the online census process.

Sh. Ravi Kumar Sihag (IAS), Registrar BGSBU / ADC Rajouri, stated that the Census is one of the largest and most important exercises of the Government of India, directly influencing planning in sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure and welfare schemes. He highlighted the national significance of Census 2027 and stressed the important role of youth in ensuring maximum participation, noting that their digital skills and community outreach can significantly strengthen awareness and accuracy in the self-enumeration process.

Prof. T**i Xavier, Dean School of Nursing & Biomedical Sciences, spoke about the responsibility of educational institutions in nurturing socially responsible citizens and motivating young people to actively contribute to national initiatives.

A detailed presentation on the self-enumeration process, digital platform, benefits and step-by-step procedure was delivered by Rahul Kumar, District Coordinator (Census), Rajouri. He explained how individuals can register and complete census details online, ensuring accuracy, convenience and transparency. The session also included an interactive discussion where participants’ queries were addressed.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Mamta coordinator CBS.

Heads of various Departments, faculty members and students actively participated in the programme. The event concluded with a call for collective participation, urging the university community to support and promote the successful implementation of Census 2027.

Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Vice Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, has expressed profound grief and sorrow on the sad demise of the father of Dr. Parvez Abdullah, Assistant Professor, Management Studies.
In his condolence message, the Vice Chancellor conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed that Almighty Allah grants the departed soul the highest place in Jannah and gives strength, patience, and courage to the family to bear this irreparable loss.
