WHAT DOES PEACE LOOK LIKE IN A SCHOOL?

Sometimes, it looks like a child feeling safe enough to speak.
Sometimes, it looks like a teacher knowing how to listen, protect and respond.
And sometimes, it looks like a school creating a culture where every learner is respected, included and valued.

At the Model Peace Summit, we welcome Ms Sapna Sukul, educator, education consultant, safeguarding trainer and Chief Operating Officer of the Boarding Schools Association of India. With decades of experience across teaching, school leadership, training and educational consultancy, Sapna has worked extensively on safeguarding, inclusion, teacher development and school wellbeing.

She has trained educators across India and internationally as a POCSO & POSH Trainer, CBSE Trainer of Trainers and British Council Core Skills Trainer, while also working with organisations focused on education, inclusion and social impact. Her work reminds us that safer and more compassionate schools do not happen by accident. They are built through awareness, accountability, informed educators and cultures of care.

Literacy doesn't simply teach us how to read the world. It teaches us how to understand it.

The 2026 theme for International Literacy Day - “Literacy for people, the planet and prosperity” - reminds us that literacy is deeply connected to dignity, opportunity, inclusion and our ability to make informed choices.

At King’s College India, we see literacy as much more than mastering words on a page. Through English, Hindi, French, literature, communication and learning across disciplines, students develop the ability to listen, interpret, question and express themselves. CAN DANCE BUILD BRIDGES?
Absolutely.

At the Model Peace Summit, Rahul Gupta brings a powerful perspective on how culture and creative expression can help us understand one another.

A Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, dance educator and cultural ambassador, Rahul has dedicated his work to preserving Indian classical dance while making it accessible to new generations and audiences across cultures. Through Bharatanatyam, storytelling, choreography and cultural workshops, he creates spaces where young people can experience tradition not simply as something to preserve, but as something to understand, interpret and share.

Honoured with the Best Choreographer and Dancer Award by the Government of Australia, Sydney, Rahul’s work reflects the power of the arts to carry stories across languages, borders and generations.

At the Model Peace Summit, his sessions will explore how culture can create connection, empathy and dialogue, reminding us that peace is also about learning to see the world through another person’s eyes.

WHAT KIND OF WORLD ARE WE PREPARING YOUNG PEOPLE FOR?

That may be one of the most important questions education can ask today.

At the Model Peace Summit, we welcome Dominic Tomalin, Founding Headmaster of Shrewsbury International School India, Bhopal.

With two decades of experience in British boarding education, Dominic has led schools, taught across disciplines, built student leadership programmes and championed education that develops the whole person. His perspective is especially relevant to a world being reshaped by artificial intelligence, changing attention economies and new demands on character, curiosity and adaptability.

For Dominic, education cannot simply prepare young people to succeed in the world as it exists. It must prepare them to contribute to the world they will inherit.

At the Summit, he brings this question into a wider conversation about leadership, resilience, character and the role of education in shaping a more thoughtful future. Because building peace begins long before conflict.
