On August 14, 2024, the Literary Society, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized an event to commemorate Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. The event was held at 1:00 PM and was organised by Mrs Manjinder Kaur and Dr Keshav Kaushal. The primary objective of the event was to remember the tragic consequences of the Partition of India in 1947 and to foster a deeper understanding of its impact on the subcontinent. The event commenced with the screening of the film "Azadi". Following the film screening, a discussion session was held with the students. The discussion focused on the various consequences of the Partition. The massive displacement of people, lead to one of the largest migrations in human history. The ensuing violence resulted in the loss of countless lives and the destruction of communities. The Partition led to the division of a shared cultural and historical heritage, creating lasting rifts between communities.
The psychological scars left by the Partition continue to affect generations, influencing the socio-political landscape of the region.
The event successfully provided a platform for students to engage with the history of Partition and its consequences, fostering a deeper appreciation for the need to remember and learn from the past.
