The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of William Carey University, on the 10th of April 2026, in collaboration with the National Commission for Women, organized a POSH Awareness workshop titled “Campus Calling” today at the University Auditorium.
The workshop aimed to sensitize students, faculty, and staff on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, and to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.
Resource persons for the event were Ms. Daiakerlang Lamin, an Advocate with a Master’s in Criminal Law, and Ms. Shima Modak, Social Activist and Founder-President of SPARK Meghalaya. The sessions covered key provisions of the POSH Act, identification and prevention of sexual harassment, reporting mechanisms, and the role of individuals in building a culture of dignity. The event saw active participation from students, faculty members, and staff. Dr. G. Phaomei of ICC Cell, William Carey University welcomed the gathering and emphasized the university’s commitment to zero tolerance of any kind of harassment. The programme concluded with a pledge taken by attendees to uphold respect and safety on campus.
