07:04:26- The Director E-Cell, Sir Archie Rymbai along with the Coordinator E-Cell, Ms. Ephanisha Marboh, of the University participated and shared Valuable Insights for the Intergrated Village Community Service in the Apiculture Process, a Project initiative under MLAMP, under MBMA, PRIME Meghalaya in Two locations, Laikroh and Bhoirymbong, Nongthymmai. Various Institutions across the state participated during the Exposure.

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of William Carey University, on the 10th of April 2026, in collaboration with the National Commission for Women, organized a POSH Awareness workshop titled “Campus Calling” today at the University Auditorium.

The workshop aimed to sensitize students, faculty, and staff on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, and to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.

Resource persons for the event were Ms. Daiakerlang Lamin, an Advocate with a Master’s in Criminal Law, and Ms. Shima Modak, Social Activist and Founder-President of SPARK Meghalaya. The sessions covered key provisions of the POSH Act, identification and prevention of sexual harassment, reporting mechanisms, and the role of individuals in building a culture of dignity. The event saw active participation from students, faculty members, and staff. Dr. G. Phaomei of ICC Cell, William Carey University welcomed the gathering and emphasized the university’s commitment to zero tolerance of any kind of harassment. The programme concluded with a pledge taken by attendees to uphold respect and safety on campus.

International Women’s Day Celebration – 2026

William Carey University celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with an inspiring programme promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality.

The programme featured insightful talks by Rekha Shangpliang, HoD, Department of Sociology, North-Eastern Hill University, and Handakaruh P. Lytan, Inspector, In-charge Women Cell, Criminal Investigation Department Meghalaya, Headquarters, Shillong.
Their speeches highlighted the importance of women’s rights, safety, and empowerment in society.

The programme was organized by the Department of Sociology and the Department of Social Work, William Carey University, in collaboration with NSS and IQAC, with active participation from students and faculty members.

9-3-26: The EDC in collaboration with Fashion Design Department of the University visit the Eri Weave Pvt. Ltd. In Ri Bhoi District, as part of the Industry Visit cm Study tour with the presence of Smt. Iaishah Rymbai, Founder & Managing Director, Eri Weave Pvt. Ltd, A Women Entrepreneur who is also a Winner of the Chief Minster's E- Champion Challenge under PRIME Meghalaya.

She is best know for her Sustainable Practices and have won & participated in many Entrepreneurial Events.

A visit to the Industry on the process of the Erisilk extraction till the finished product. She also encourage our studentpreneurs by highlighting her challenges and success stories during her Entrepreneurial Journey.

Participants: Students of E-Cell, The Director EDC, Sir Archie Rymbai, Ms. Debra Y. Rynjah HoD and Ms. Phinri Marboh, Asst. Prof, Dept of Fashion Design and also students from Skilled Enhancement Course UG 2nd Semester under NEP 2020 participated.

5 Days Workshop concluded today hosted by William Carey University Meghalaya, Entrepreneurship Development Cell in collaboration with Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship. Guwahati.

Students participated from various Departments ( Commerce, Social Work, Rural Development, Management, Computer Sc. Psychology Dept.)

Sessions on Emegering trends on Entrepreneurship, Financial Support, idea Generation, Design Thinking and creating an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem among the students.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

William Carey University Meghalaya deeply mourns the ultimately demise of Dr. Ricky A.J. Syngkon, MP Shillong Meghalaya.
His sudden passing away is an irreparable loss to the people of Meghalaya.
