Congratulations to Prof. Abhinav Kumar Sharma, Prof. Indrajit Mukherjee, Prof. Felix T. S. Chan, and Prof. Raghu Nandan Sengupta on the publication of their research article, “A comparative study to enhance decision-making for multi-objective ‘mean’ and ‘mean–variance’ optimisation of multiple responses considering predictive uncertainties,” in Annals of Operations Research (ABDC: A, ABS: 3).

The study examines how population-based multi-objective optimisation algorithms perform on mean and mean–variance multiple quality characteristics optimisation problems (commonly referred to as multiple response optimisation problems), incorporating predictive uncertainty to enhance decision-making. The performance of the algorithms is influenced by factors such as problem structure, the number of objectives, the number of independent variables, the shape of the global Pareto front, and the selected hyperparameters.

The study also proposes a modified NSGA-III algorithm integrating Tabu Search, aimed at improving solution quality and convergence behaviour.

The findings demonstrate the consistent rank superiority of:
• Speed-constrained Multi-objective
• Particle Swarm Optimisation
• Multi-objective Individualised Instruction Teaching–Learning-Based Optimisation
• Modified NSGA-III algorithm

Across varied problem settings involving both mean and mean–variance multiple response optimisation problems.
