Yuva Sangam Phase–VI at IIM Shillong

The Indian Institute of Management Shillong proudly welcomed the Yuva Sangam Phase–VI delegation from Telangana, led by the National Institute of Technology Warangal, under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative of the Government of India.

The program began with a vibrant traditional reception, featuring indigenous drums, customary attire, and cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage of Meghalaya and the North Eastern Region.

The inaugural session was graced by Shri Munish Ningthoujam, Regional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, as Chief Guest, and Padma Shri Silbi Passah as Guest of Honour—an eminent Khasi folk artist, musician, poet, and cultural promoter honoured for her contributions to preserving Khasi-Jaintia folk traditions and indigenous heritage.

The program featured a welcome address by Prof. Naliniprava Tripathy, Director (I/C), IIM Shillong, who emphasised the importance of youth-led cultural exchange in fostering national integration. The event was attended by Dr. Sanjeev Ningombam, Nodal Officer, Yuva Sangam, IIM Shillong, and Prof. P. Hari Prasada Reddy, Nodal Officer, NIT Warangal, along with faculty, staff, and delegates.

Day 1 Highlights
The first day featured a vibrant cultural exchange programme, where delegates shared the traditions, music, and artistic expressions of their respective regions, followed by a tree plantation drive on campus as a symbol of sustainability and friendship.

The experiential journey continued with a visit to Lok Bhavan, Meghalaya, where participants gained insights into the state’s governance and administrative framework.

Through meaningful interactions, cultural exchange, and experiential learning, Yuva Sangam continues to strengthen bonds between regions, celebrating India’s diversity while nurturing a shared national identity.

IIM Shillong is pleased to announce the commencement of a Management Development Program (MDP) on “Strategic Leadership for MSME Ecosystem Development: Export Readiness, Digital Commerce & Industrial Growth” for officers of the Directorate of Industries, Department of MSME, Government of Madhya Pradesh, scheduled from 08–10 June 2026.

As India’s MSME sector continues to play a critical role in economic development and employment generation, there is a growing need to strengthen institutional capacity for export readiness, digital adoption, and sustainable industrial growth. This Program is designed to provide participants with strategic insights into MSME ecosystem development, digital commerce integration, policy ex*****on, and enterprise competitiveness.

IIM Shillong in collaboration with the Forest & Environment Department, Government of Meghalaya, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 on the theme “Inspired by Nature for Climate Action.” The event brought together government officials, academicians, students, and nature enthusiasts to reaffirm their collective commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

In his address, Shri D. Sthiyan, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force (HoFF), Meghalaya, lauded IIM Shillong for maintaining its lush green and environmentally conscious campus. He emphasized the importance of every individual becoming a stakeholder in conserving and protecting nature and thanked all participants for joining the tree plantation initiative.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Naliniprava Tripathy, Director (I/C), IIM Shillong, highlighted the critical role of the environment as the foundation of economic systems and sustainable growth. She shared insights into the Institute’s commitment to sustainability through practices such as reuse, recycling, and responsible resource management. She also spoke about the concept of Panchatattva—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space—and emphasized the need to maintain harmony among these elements to preserve ecological balance.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Smti. Heisakaru Lato, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, East Khasi Hills (Social Forestry) Division. She expressed her gratitude to IIM Shillong for its collaboration and support in organizing the celebration.

Students from various schools in Shillong, Meghalaya, including St. Jerome Higher Secondary School, St. Edmund’s School, B.K. Bajoria School, Pyhthorumkhrah Golflinks Higher Secondary School, Buddha Vidya Niketan Secondary School, and Laban Bengali Girls’ School, actively participated in the plantation drive, adding to the spirit of collective action. Participants of the tree plantation initiative were thanked, and school students were appreciated and awarded for their active involvement and creative contributions.

The celebration served as a meaningful platform to promote environmental awareness, inspire climate action, and encourage collective responsibility toward building a sustainable future.

IIM Shillong proudly inaugurated the 3rd batch of the Executive Program on Healthcare Management—a 10‑month immersive journey jointly offered by IIM Shillong and CAHO (Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations), designed to empower healthcare professionals and administrators to transition into senior leadership roles and drive meaningful transformation across the healthcare ecosystem.

Prof. Priya Alat, Chairperson, Certificate Programs, emphasized how such programs foster meaningful engagement with organizations and create impactful learning experiences.

Prof. Sanjeeb Kakoty, Program Coordinator, shared an overview of the program, highlighting its design to maximize learning through a unique three-way approach—faculty-led theoretical inputs, peer learning through cohort interactions, and deep self-introspection and reflection.
