The beginning of a transformative journey was marked as the PGPEx 2026–27 cohort formally embarked on their academic experience at IIM Shillong. The Commencement Day brought together learners, faculty, and leadership in a moment of shared purpose, aspiration, and pride.
Prof. Kailash Choudhary, Member, Admissions Committee, presented the profile of the incoming batch, highlighting its diversity and underlining the value of continuing higher education for both professional and personal growth.
Prof. Sitanshu Sekhar Das, Chairperson, PGPEx, outlined the programme structure, including international immersion and live projects. He emphasised the importance of collaborative learning, noting that the true value of the journey lies in learning as much from peers as from the classroom.
Prof. Naliniprava Tripathy, Director (I/C), IIM Shillong, welcomed the participants and appreciated their determination to continue their academic journey. She reflected on the Institute’s legacy of building ethical leadership and highlighted the significance of the Community Immersion Program. She also provided an overview of the Institute’s MoUs and centres supporting research, capacity building, consultancy, training, and development, while emphasising collaboration, self‑awareness, empathy, and equity as essential to shaping responsible leaders.
Guest of Honour, Shri Ambarish Dasgupta, Senior Partner and Founder, Intueri Consulting LLP, congratulated the participants and highlighted the Institute’s strong focus on sustainability, particularly in the context of North East India and Asia. He underscored agility as the new currency in business, emphasised the importance of asking the right questions to derive meaningful insights, and highlighted ethics as a core organisational value guiding a broader corporate purpose.
Chief Guest, Prof. Manmohan Prasad Gupta, Director, IIM Lucknow, congratulated the PGPEx participants and reflected on the legacy of the IIMs and leading global institutions in shaping business education. He highlighted the transformative role of the internet and AI in learning and business models and their influence on the growth of global enterprises. Emphasising the need to stay abreast of emerging technologies such as robotics and Industry 5.0, he underscored the importance of understanding technological architecture for sustainable business development.
The session concluded with a pledge ceremony led by Prof. Rohit Joshi, Dean Academics, IIM Shillong, reinforcing the importance of ethical practices and collaborative learning.
