Succesfuly concluded the Debate Competition under the 4th National Environment Youth Parliament (NEYP) – 2026, jointly organized by the Students’ Well-being Office and Department of Environment and Traditional Ecosystems in collaboration with Students for Development (SFD).
The preliminary round was followed by a final round where the finalists presented their perspectives on the topic “Plastic-Free Himalayas- Strategies to reduce tourism-linked waste.”

The Department of Environment and Traditional Ecosystems conducted a community exposure trip to Garo Hills from the 5th to the 8th of October, 2022.
The objective of this trip was to obtain knowledge from the communities on the traditional practices and management of their local fish sanctuaries, and the importance of maintaining them.
Students also carried out Participatory rural appraisal with the communities, went on a site visit to the famous Rombagre Fish Sanctuary, and delved in the local dishes of Garo Hills. Overall, it was indeed a productive trip!
