Boot Camp on Mobile Device Security Inaugurated at UIT, HPU Shimla
Shimla, November 10:
A five-day Boot Camp on Mobile Device Security was inaugurated today at the University Institute of Technology (UIT), Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla. The event, being held from November 10 to 14, 2025, is jointly organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, UIT-HPU, and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Mohali, under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
Prof. A. J. Singh, Director, UIT, HPU Shimla, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Harpreet Bawa, Project Manager, C-DAC Mohali, and Project Coordinator, ISEA, attended as the Guest of Honor.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Anjali Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Coordinator of the Boot Camp, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, experts, and participants. Dr. Neetu Dhiman, Coordinator of the boot camp highlighted that the objective of the Boot Camp is to equip students and researchers with advanced knowledge and practical exposure in mobile device security, emphasizing its growing importance in the era of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G technologies.
The program coordinators, Dr. Shyam Chand along with Dr. Neeru Sharma, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, acknowledged the valuable technical contribution of the C-DAC Mohali expert team — Ms. Sumera Farooq, Mr. Akshay Kumar, and Ms. Shilpa Chandel.
The Boot Camp features 12 expert sessions by distinguished speakers from HPU, SPU, NITs, and C-DAC Mohali, covering diverse topics such as Security in IoT-Enabled Mobile Environments, Privacy and Compliance in the Mobile Ecosystem, Role of Artificial Intelligence in Mobile Device Security, Emerging Mobile Threats, and Sybil Attacks in Ad Hoc Networks.
In addition to lectures, hands-on sessions by C-DAC experts will provide participants with practical experience in the latest tools, techniques, and real-world applications in mobile and network security.
More than 100 students and research scholars from various institutions are participating in the Boot Camp, which aims to foster learning, innovation, and collaboration in the field of cyber security.
Delivering the Vote of Thanks, Dr. Neeru Sharma, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, expressed heartfelt gratitude to chief guest and all the experts and participants for their valuable presence and contributions
