Trainees and faculty members of Government ITI Shopian participated in ARCHEX 2026, convened at Government Women’s Polytechnic College Bemina from 16th–18th May 2026. The prestigious exposition was inaugurated by Satish Sharma, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Government of Jammu & Kashmir.

The exhibition served as an erudite platform for acquainting participants with avant-garde construction materials, contemporary architectural innovations, and emerging industrial methodologies. The interaction with industry professionals and technical experts substantially enriched the vocational competence, practical cognition, and professional exposure of the trainees.

The participation of Government ITI Shopian epitomizes the institution’s steadfast commitment towards fostering technical excellence, industry-oriented learning, and experiential education among trainees.

Today, the Trainees of Draughtsman Civil & Mason trade visited the construction site at AIIMS Awantipora, where construction work of AIIMS under the NCC Company Pvt.Ltd. is ongoing.
During the field visit, trainees observed and studied various on-site construction operations including reinforcement detailing of slab and columns, shuttering procedures, curing practices, and on-ground implementation of structural drawings. The visit provided hands-on exposure and practical understanding of civil engineering concepts being taught in the classroom.
The field interaction with site engineer further enhanced the student's knowledge regarding material quality checks, safety measures, and standard engineering practices followed during construction.

Such visits play a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, thereby helping the students gain real-time industry experience.

National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) Mela Celebrated at ITI Shopian
The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Shopian organized a National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) Mela on 08-12-2025, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, trainees, and various reputed firms. The event was successfully coordinated and managed by the students of ITI Shopian, showcasing their professionalism, creativity, and leadership.
A large number of students and representatives from different firms attended the programme, making it an interactive and impactful platform for promoting apprenticeship opportunities. During the event, ITI students delivered detailed presentations on the NAPS scheme, highlighting its objectives, importance, and the wide range of benefits it offers to both trainees and establishments. The presentations aimed to raise awareness about how apprenticeships enhance employability, skill development, and industry exposure.
The Mela was attended by industry and firms dealing with food processing, automotive, logistics and horticulture sectors the event generated an overwhelming response, with around 100 students registering for various apprenticeship opportunities offered by the participating firms. These registrations reflect the growing interest among youth in gaining hands-on industry experience through structured apprenticeship programmes.
The event concluded with appreciation for the organizers, participating students, and collaborating firms for their efforts in making the NAPS Mela a success. ITI Shopian reiterated its commitment to continuously promoting skill development, industry linkage, and career opportunities for the youth of the district.

ITI Shopian Celebrates 4th Annual Convocation Day
Shopian, October 4, 2025 – The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Shopian celebrated its 4th Annual Convocation Day with great enthusiasm and participation from staff, students, and guests. The event marked a proud moment for the institute as it felicitated its recent pass-out trainees.
The programme began with a welcome address by the Superintendent, ITI Shopian, Mr Fida Hussain Bhat, who highlighted the institute’s achievements and the importance of skill-based education in today’s competitive world. Principal, Government Polytechnic, shri Manzoor Ahmad kumar, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the growing role of vocational training in fostering self-reliance and employment opportunities. He also highlited the learning of modern skills with innovative thinking as the need of the hour.
Shri Mudasir Ahmad, Assistant Faculty, EDI, also addressed the gathering and delivered an inspiring speech on entrepreneurship and self-employment, encouraging trainees to become job creators rather than job seekers.
During the ceremony, certificates were awarded to the recent graduates, acknowledging their successful completion of training. Special recognition was given to All India Toppers from the Horticulture Trade, who were honored with mementos and trophies for their outstanding performance. Additionally, trainers of ITI Shopian were honoured for their notable contributions to skill development and training excellence, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to nurturing young talent.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Aashiq Hussain Reshi, who expressed gratitude to the guests, staff, and students for making the event a success. The convocation reflected ITI Shopian’s continued commitment to empowering youth with practical skills and technical excellence.

*Udhyam Yuva Fest Celebrated at Polytechnic Shopian*

Shopian, [27-09-2025]: The Polytechnic Shopian today hosted the *Udhyam Yuva Fest*, a vibrant celebration of youth talent, skill development, and entrepreneurship. The event brought together students, faculty, government officials, and budding entrepreneurs in a shared spirit of innovation and self-reliance.

Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone, ADDC Shopian, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by the Principal ITI Shopian, representatives from the Employment Department, and several successful entrepreneurs who shared their experiences and insights with the young participants.

The program began with an inaugural address by Principal of Polytechnic Shopian, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad, who highlighted the importance of organizing such festivals to encourage skill-based learning and entrepreneurial spirit among the youth.

Mr. Aslam, Employment Officer, delivered a detailed presentation on *Mission Yuva*, elaborating on the various government initiatives and opportunities available for the younger generation. The Superintendent of ITI Shopian Mr. Fida Hussain underscored the need to embrace entrepreneurship as a career choice and emphasized its vital role in realizing the vision of *Atmanirbhar Bharat*.

The highlight of the fest was the recognition of talent across multiple competitions. The toppers of quiz, essay writing, painting, and speech competitions were felicitated by the Chief Guest. Their achievements were celebrated as a testament to the creativity, knowledge, and skills of the district’s youth.

The Udhyam Yuva Fest reaffirmed the collective commitment of institutions, government bodies, and community stakeholders to empower the youth of Shopian, nurture their entrepreneurial aspirations, and contribute to the larger national mission of building a self-reliant India.
