🌿⚖️ Legal Awareness for a Safer and Greener Society ⚖️🌿
The Legal Aid Society of the Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri, on the occassion of World Environment Day, 2026 has collaborated with the District Legal Services Authority, Jalpaiguri, NJP Police Station, and Sarvabharatiya Matriseva Mission, and successfully organized a Legal Awareness Programme on 5th June 2026.
The programme addressed several critical legal and social issues, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, prevention of child marriage, cybercrime awareness, Good Touch and Bad Touch, the importance of crime reporting, and various legal rights and responsibilities aimed at fostering a safer and more informed society.

The programme witnessed the active participation of more than 100 attendees from diverse backgrounds, including women, children, working professionals, daily wage earners, students, social workers, and members of the local community. Their enthusiastic involvement made the programme highly interactive and impactful.
Significantly, the programme was conducted on World Environment Day 2026, which added a meaningful dimension to the event. Along with legal awareness, participants were sensitized to the importance of environmental conservation, sustainable living, and collective responsibility towards building a greener and healthier future. The convergence of legal literacy and environmental consciousness made the programme especially fruitful and relevant.
