November 17, 2022 — G. D. Goenka University, School of Media and Entertainment celebrated the National Journalism Day Annual Media Awards for the second consecutive year at their campus. This event saw the presence of renowned Indian Journalists from print and TV broadcast background. The guest of honour for the show was Ms. Mimansa Malik, Executive Editor at Bharat 24 who, unfortunately could not attend the event due to an urgent engagement.

The event started with the inaugural speech by the Vice Chancellor, GD Goenka University, Prof (Dr) Tabrez Ahmad who felicitated the awardees selected for their special piece of journalistic contribution.

The event was held to recognize the guest journalists for their tireless work in the field of journalism through this Annual Media Awards. The invited guests included Mr. Ravish Ranjan, Sr. Special Correspondent, NDTV India; Mr. Raju Raj, Sr. Special Correspondent, Zee News; Ms. Aditi Nagar, Political Editor, Bharat 24; Mr. Chandan Raghav, Sohna Press; Mr. Sushant Malhotra, RJ and on-air presentator, All India Radio. Invitees also included Mr. Ram Kinkar Singh, Sr. Special Correspondent, Aaj Tak and Mr. Shambhu Kumar Singh, Journalist, National Dastak who could join the event due to urgent business. The students staged a small cultural program followed by a press conference conducted by the students of School of Media and Entertainment to ask insightful questions from the panel guests and glean their knowledge and experience in print, TV and radio journalism.

SoME, GDGU organized a day-long workshop on 03/10/22 on News Reporting with NDTV Special Correspondent/Anchor Mr. Saurabh Shukla. It was an enlightening session in which MAJMC and BAJMC students learned so much from the experiences shared by Mr. Shukla. SoME is grateful to Mr. Shukla and NDTV for the same.

The third-semester Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication students of GD Goenka University participated in a creative and enjoyable activity called Mood Boarding on September 28, 2022, for their Application of Media Aesthetics class, which was organised and led by their project guide and mentor, Ms Meha Prasad. The main idea behind the workshop was to give an insight into the nine emotions and their representation involving visuals and sound. Both elements, when combined or separately, depict and associate with Navrasa's emotions.

A blank canvas was given to the students and they were directed to paint the same with the colours that represented the emotions in the track that was being played in the background while the students continued painting.

The playlist had a number of songs that depicted various emotions. The major objective of the exercise was to construct a mood board made up of the Navrasa (various emotions); this wasn't revealed until the very end. Rasa is a term for an emotional state of mind, and Navarasa means "nine emotions." Shringara (love/beauty), Hasya (laughing), Karuna (sorrow), Raudra (anger), Veera (heroics/courage), Bhayanaka (terror/fear), Bibhatsa (disgust), Adbutha (surprise/wonder), and Shantha are the nine emotions (peace or tranquillity).

The students constructed beautiful and flamboyant mood boards as a result of this project, which they enjoyed thoroughly. Mood Boarding was the first step toward understanding the application of colours, music, and emotions to create a brand value that connects with consumer sentiments.

School of Media and Entertainment gave a warm welcome to its freshers on 5th September 2022 with introductory activities and exciting ice breaking sessions. Besides the introductory session, the students also got to witness the teacher's day celebrations organised by their seniors.
